All Ally cards have an Attack value, Health, and some have abilitites. Some Allies will have the keyword Unique on the opposite side of its card type. This denotes that you can only play the ally if you do not already own or control an instance of that ally in play. Examples include [[Aldon the Brave]] and [[Death Mage Thaddeus]].

Humans and the Shadow faction have their own Allies while Neutral allies can play both camp; but class-specific Allies also exist, such as [[Spark]] and [[Pack Wolf]]. Certain allies like [[Bad Wolf]] belong to "Tribes", an ally sub-type, listed after the allies' main type (e.g. "Shadow Ally - Wulven").

While they are not required, most decks include them; some decks will run ally-less.

  • All allies belong to one of the game faction types Human, Shadow or Neutral or to one of the seven class types.
    • e.g.: The Jade of the Forest card may not specify a faction type, but its class type is Hunter, meaning it can be included in either a Human or Shadow Hunter deck.
    • e.g.: The Bad Wolf card may not specify a class type, but its faction type is Shadow and its tribe (a subtype of ally class) is Wulven, listed as "Shadow Ally - Wulven." These allies can only be included in decks with the same faction type as the hero.
  • All ally cards have Attack, Health and Cost values along passive or activate abilities.
    • When an ally’s health reaches 0, it is killed and goes to its owner's graveyard.
    • An ally with an Attack value of 0 cannot attack but can use its ability, if not exhausted, once per turn.
  • After being summoned from your hand, allies are placed in the allies row and are in an exhausted state.
  • Allies can be affected by all the game's negative effects.
  • While the player can control up to four copies of the same ally, some allies have the keyword "unique" on their card. This indicates that you can only play that ally if you do not already control another instance of it.
