In Shadow Era, Ally cards are the pawns in your quest to victory. While they are not required, most decks include them; some decks will run ally-less.
All Ally cards have an Attack value, Health, Cost, and some have abilities. After being summoned from your hand, Allies are in the state of exhaustion and will not be able to attack nor use their ability until your next turn. Allies also become exhausted after attacking, but not after using their ability.
Some Allies will have the keyword Unique on the opposite side of its card type. This denotes that you can only play the ally if you do not already own or control an instance of that ally in play. Examples include Aldon the Brave and Death Mage Thaddeus.
Humans and the Shadow factions have their own Allies while Neutral allies can play both camp; but class-specific Allies also exist, such as Spark and Pack Wolf; these allies can only join Heroes with the same class type.
Certain allies, like Bad Wolf, belong to "Tribes", an ally Class sub-type, listed after the allies' main type (e.g. "Shadow Ally - Wulven"); these allies can only join the same Hero's faction type.
