There are various kinds of items. Many items are Artifacts, which generally stay permanently on the field, unless destroyed by a card effect, or if they run out of durability. Hero Weapons and Armors are also items, these also stay on the board only as long as they have durability left. The Hunter class has access to a special kind of item known as Traps, which are played face-down, and activate when a specific action occurs. Traps are also the only type of item that can be placed on the field in more than one copy of the same trap at a time, as all other items are unique (you can only have one [[Ill-Gotten Gains]] on your field at a time for example).

Items are a type of card in Shadow Era.

When summoned, items are placed in the support row.
Some remain permanently until destroyed by some special abilities, while others have a durability value.
A destroyed item is placed in its owner's graveyard.
Every type of item can be exiled.
