Definition & mechanism:

Resource and sacrifice card are closely related.

  • Resources stack with the cards you choose to sacrifice from your hand each turn and add up by stacking one on top of the other and position face down in the bottom right of the playing mat, in the resource pile.
  • Although it is possible to build resources faster than one by turn, players can only sacrifice one card per turn.
  • The sacrifice phase takes place after the beginning of the turn phase and before the action phase, read more information about how a turn goes.
  • Players can sacrifice a card but it is not an obligation even if strongly advised during the first rounds of play (at least until the second turn of the game).
  • To help players within the digital game, the cards in their hand are highlighted with a red color outline during the sacrifice phase and the button Skip or Sacrifice are red.
  • Resources can each be used once per turn, so if you had 2 resources you could play one card that costs 2 resources. At your next turn, if you sacrifice a card, you will have then 3 resources and could play one card that costs 3 resources, and so on. There is a number at the top right of the resources area that indicates how many resources you have. For example, if you have 7 resources and you play a card that has a casting cost of 2 resources, you will have 5 resources left and it will be indicated as follows: 5/7.
  • At the end of each turn, the player’s resources are renewed.
  • When a resource is removed, it is the top card that is removed, unless otherwise explained.
  • When a card is placed in the resources pile, it is placed on top.

  • In order to cast a card or to activate an ability with a casting cost greater than 0 during the action phase, the player must spend the casting cost with their resources they have available. (e.g. to be able to summon Aldon the Brave, resources at disposal must be greater than or equal to 3.)
