I guess you've since, revised your opinion. I thought the first quote was the way it should be so I followed that until I was proven wrong and then met with the second quote. So I follow that and try to instill a sense of importance on a different exploit but then was wrong again. Guess I really need to figure out how to do things right.
I believe what he means is it's okay to call out bugs and exploits, but that he was shutting down a number of threads that were running at the time which were essentially reading like "how to" manuals for gaming the system - which, is a bannable offense on the forums for almost every online game most of us have ever played.

eh, if it makes the problems exist for a week for everyone and then get them fixed, i'd rather that than they exist for months with only a few people knowing.

that is, even if support is informed, a bug everyone is crying out about gets a higher priority than one that one person pms the devs to inform them about.

Im pretty sure they're aware of the security vulnerabilities since they coded the game that way. It's not something that's "discovered"; the game simply runs with almost no security. So, given that they're already aware, the only thing that posting 'this is how the exploit works' does is mean more people will try to exploit it.

which means more people will complain about those exploiting it, which means it will get fixed.

and, as I said, i'd rather have it in the open for a short time til it's fixed than have a select few exploiting it and it not get fixed.

@Shakespeare212 The reason why some posts were deleted was not because they mentioned how to do the exploit, they were deleted because it's a major exploit that can't be resolved server-side. Whereas, another exploit, which did mention exactly how to reproduce it, was left alone because it patchable server-side.

    End of story.

EDIT: Just to be clear, Shakespeare212, none of the posts that were deleted mentioned how to even go about doing that particular exploit.

@AnAdolt didn't he delete the one where patricia was explaining how easy it was to hack and pull the data showing what cards were in your opponent's hand, and how to do it? (purposely not going into more detail).

Maybe he missed some threads, or deleted some others that were already reported - whatever threads he deleted, I just think the idea of Kyle sitting at a webserver deviously toying with our free speech and emotions for his own gain it's a bit farfetched...just seems like there's no need to go after a guy who's only crime is trying to manage his product and user-base as it grows, in accordance with what are pretty standard practices.

Maybe there were some posts that got deleted before I could read them but from the posts I did read, including the one that showed the data content of a packet, they were all merely data and never outlined how to do anything.

I never said implied he was toying with our free speech and emotions for his own gain. My original post in discussion was posted with the intent to show how ridiculous his first post was. And how his comment afterwards was a 180 as it was completely on the opposite spectrum on how the situation would be handled.

Sorry if I caught you in the crossfire...I was actually just editing some of the snarkiness out of my last post as those comments weren't really aimed at you - I know you're not in the habit of going off half-cocked on the forums.

I can't go into depth about patricia's post without basically reposting what she said...but it did go on for several posts and got pretty specific - and they did say how to get that data. It wasn't a literal step-by-step, but it did say what action you had to take to get it and translated what the code meant for anyone who was able to do so. The thread was literally talking about hacking the game data on the forum for the game itself...I don't know any online game that would tolerate anything remotely close to that on it's own forum.

Yes, but you believe in the merit of publicizing exploits and my curtness, which really was too ambiguous, was implying that Kyle's current policy is against doing that and you could get banned depending on severity.

EDIT: To clarify, "end of story" was me basically saying, Kyle's word is final.
