Much appreciated, thank you very much
Hello Jazz,
While I think being polite is a good thing in general and I myself tend to take care to be polite most of the time, I find it utter nonsense to disqualify people for uttering a word of profanity on IRC.
If you keep continually sending messages to people multiple times a day from continuously different name, then yes, it can start to annoy people. Why are you then surprised someone might not respond completely polite after being annoyed several times a day?
I would like you to reverse this decision, I find a tournament where winners are chosen by such things as “impolite behavior on irc” to be not worthy of the name tournament.
I can imagine disliking profanity, but is it worthy of a dq and ban of all future tourneys? If I post a screenshot of anyone saying something inappropriate on irc will you ban them too?
If Savage no longer feels like playing in the tournament and wishes to resign, then I’m fine with that, but I do not think a disqualification and ban for future tournaments is warranted and would prefer to see it reversed.
Kind regards,
Mip

I don't know what was said between you two so i wont comment on that. What I will say is that although I'm used to it now, I did find it weird at first when you used to ask for progress reports from alt names on irc, and a lot of the time I wasn't certain it was even you.

Sad to see the guy who beat me twice get DQed. I don't know all the details of the rudeness and swearing but I agree with Mip.

Mip PMed me asking for my intervention in this matter, and i agree that an official clarification might come in handy on this particular TO call.
Wulven sponsored tournament have some unwritten rules of conduit. That's for granted.
That applies either to participants that play those tournaments, as to TOs who organize them.
That rules imply, mostly, good sense and calm judgement.
Yes, it's desirable that players can be polite, as TOs (who have even a bigger responsability of being polite and promote politeness).
While i believe that sponsorization means, mostly, that Wulven is trusting a given TO that he will follow the written rules on his proposed tournament thread, and all the unwritten rules that Wulven considers assured and demands, such as player's self-respect, politeness, good manners, good sportsmanship, etc., some specific calls may be discussed if they are ambiguous enough, and raise enough awareness, as this one seems to be.
a) I have seen no piece of communication between Jazz and WhoisSavage, except from what is published in this thread.
b) This is the official thread of the tournament, so only what's presented here (or in any relationed thread to this one) is to be considered as info regardin this tournament decisions. (many things might be said in many places, IRC, PM, etc, but the official tournament channel is...here.)
c) a TO of any given tournament (and specially of Wulven organized ones) has the obligation, as the main provider of good judgement on his own tournament, to not let personal situations cloud any calls he has to make. (i'm not saying that that happened here, just remembering it, as a rule of thumb)
d) while I have no will whatsoever to restrain TO's judgement on a tournament where Wulven, basically, gave it's trust to him by providing sponsorship to his format and allowing it to run it, a DQ is a very serious matter, and needs to be well proven and well framed.
e) In doubt, an official OOPS exists, and shall be consulted prior to any temporary or "life" DQ, or any call of this magnitude.
TO BE CLEAR: Inadequate behaviour is not to be tolerated on any event with Wulven stamp.
But inadequate behaviour shall be judged on the correct places, with enough evidence, and in coherence with past events and precedences.
Jazz, I will ask you to consider what I just wrote, and please re-consider your call on WhoisSavage in this tournament. Any doubts, you can PM me about it.
Regarding future bannings of WhoisSavage on Jazz's tournaments, Jazz is free to make the calls he wants on his own tournaments. I can't force anyone to accept player X on his own tournament, if he doesnt want to.
If he's talking about Wulven sponsored tournaments, however, i shall remember Jazz and every TO that those (Wulven Sponsored) tournaments are open to everyone, with no bannings issued, until proven otherwise in a very toughtful and explicit manner. (that's, clearly, the "counterside" of having official sponsorship, and also the reason why OOPS review all formats before accepting them).
Something very serious would have to happen for something different to be ruled.

TL;DR version, you can ban Savage, but first you have to prove to nahar that he deserves it

Well guys don't you see that Jazz seems to have done exactly what Savage asked him to do after he missed the previous round's deadline?
After such a request it seems strange to blame TO of the following:
Just my 2 cents
Edit: Savage pointed out that his post that I quote first wasn't addressed to Jazz. My bad

nMer...do you honestly believe that one instance of hypocrisy or one instance of using an expletive on IRC warrants a lifetime ban from a Wulven sponsored event? If that is the case...we would have a hard time filling tournament brackets because most of us wouldn't pass the bar.
While we can all be sympathetic to TO's who have to deal with occasionally flaky, untimely, unruly, argumentative, or ignorant players...Nahar's ruling is indisputably fair and the best way for the community to proceed.
