Rulebook v1.0 says:
1. Both attacker and target enter combat.
1.1. Effects that trigger on entering combat resolve (if any).
2. The attacker performs its attack on the target. The amount of damage dealt is equal to the attack value
on the attacking ally or the weapon being used by the attacking hero, plus any relevant modifiers.
2.1. Effects that trigger on the target being attacked resolve (if any).
2.2. Damage reduction or prevention effects resolve (if any).
3. If there is damage remaining, it is dealt to the target, reducing its current health.
3.1. Effects that trigger on combat damage being dealt resolve (if any).
My question is, if an attacker (ally or hero) is disabled, frozen or killed due to an effect that triggers at the "on-attack"-step (2.1), will the attacker still perform the rest of the steps, i.e. deal damage to its target (providing that damage gets "through" any damage prevention/reduction)?
Example #1:
An ally with an attack value of 5 attacks a hero equipped with Snow Sapphire with a defense value of 2. Will the hero take 3 damage, and the Snow Sapphire lose durability?
Example #2:
An ally with an attack value of 5 and 1 health remaining (and no damage reduction/prevention) attacks a hero equipped with Violet Thunderstorm with a defense value of 2. Will the hero take 3 damage, and the Violet Thunderstorm lose durability?
