Awesome, thanks Kyle!
No more "live" match observations from now. Shucks
Is there a way we can view our friend's matchup since the lobby only displays the latest 30 games
I think people aren't understanding properly what rating means. They're thinking of it like "score". It's more a measure of skill level, not "how many games did I win". Rating SHOULD, in theory, level out, not continue increasing indefinitely, unless your skill improves. That's what makes it a constant challenge to continue improving your deck and winning games consistently.
After this bugfix, many of the exploits people were using to get their rating really high don't work, and thus, as they lose/quit games, we'll see them sink down to wherever they should actually be, based on their skill level. But it's not supposed to be like "I won three games in a row so I should get at least one rating point"...well if those games were against less skilled players, then you haven't shown any improvement in skill.
I do agree, however, that the matchmaking process could be a bit more limited. Obviously lower skilled players need the opportunity to face higher rated players in order to prove themselves, but gaps of like 100 are a bit much.
I had to rethink the latest exploit change, and you can again view games in progress as this is an important part of SE and fun to do. But you can't join your own game (sync error) and the next release will hide both hands when observing or replaying a game that's not yours.
While he should be winning a high percentage, at the upper levels is pretty much impossible to be winning 90% of your games. He has a plus 1 win ratio but still lost 14 points, that seems a little harsh. Gaining 14 points back at such high ratings would take MANY hours of playing and like you said- a very, very high win ratio of around 19/20.
Gimme back that filet-o-fish.

Again, though, this is the point. It's not supposed to be some kind of linear progression, it's not a score...basically everyone at the top will ultimately level off around the same rating. We WILL see a capping point where very few, if any, players make it past. And those will be the top players in the game.
