When you're creating a thread, at the bottom of the text input field, there's a "Additional Options" area. An option for polling can be checked off there.

    All talk

Ok, so I've read all the posts. I have a question... What's the alternative? I can't say that I am against it until I see an alternative. I see innuendo left and right, but not a single person has offered an alternative in this thread. So, write out your mechanics to persuade me to think otherwise. Currently, I see "first strike" as a strategic point to over come. Not saying that cards don't allow you to whip the snot out of unsuspecting player. I remember this exact same thing happen in MtG back in infancy. That is how you come to know the 4 card max rule we currently abide by today.

yes, it's very little people. i would think that a forum population would be skewed towards those that care more about the game, that it consists of more people that are on the higher skilled/rated side, but given the amount of less than thoughtful posts i think i am wrong in this assumption. so while there is less people than the population voting by an enormous margin i believe the sample is random.

i voted yes. i would definitely like to at least see the idea beta tested.
    - it's so blatantly obvious i'm gonna win that they usually quit. =(. i feel like i have to hold back so they won't leave.

The first-strike mechanic (which I do still support) is kind of a negative factor to a lot of people, only, I think, because you can attack allies directly, whereas in MTG the defender got to decide where the damage went. You could probably keep first-strike without the ability to directly target allies with your allies, and that would make the mechanic far more balanced for both players, as opposed to being strongly in favor of the player who played their creature first.

All in all, someone else said it best. This is the discussion and a poll of about 30 people out of a community of hundreds of thousands of players. What does it really represent/indicate?

    Alternative suggestion.

Add a mechanic for creatures who do NOT have first strike. That gives more design space without changing the current game. =)

Edit: Alternatively, add a few item cards that change combat to that mechanic.

Basically, I like doing changes by growing and adding as opposed to nerfing and removing. It's MUCH more rewarding for the player base. Also, can act like a great built-in beta test of the idea. =)
