    Stepping my game up.

    Hey everyone,

I'm in a score rut right now. I've been hovering at 280 for the past week, and I want to step my game up to the next level. My first step was the great deck building thread i had between Mew two and Steve (who is much better than I thought). The second step has been reading the Gondorian and reading up on strategy.

Now I'm asking for advice for both my deck and my strategy. If the top 20 players can get a 364, they must have learned it somehow. Below is a link to my deck represented through the A1 deck building tool. Please note that the cards are written in 1.29 format.
Below is my strategy for dealing with the various heroes in the upper level of SE multiplayer.

Because I run a Boris deck, I try to have board control. During the first 5 turns I sacrifice double copies before abilities (Sac 1 of my 2 Pewun Bloodhelm's or Jasmine Rosecult before abilities). Because Jewler's Dream and Jasmine Rosecult work so well together, I will sacrifice abilities over allies to keep Jewler's Dream and Jasmine Rosecult in my hand.

I ignore 4cc allies during the first four turns because my ability can handle them regardless of how string they are. I use my ability of Crippling Blow because Crippling Blow can be used on any cost ally. I throw away blood frenzy against Eldawen and Majia because it ends up working as a free DoT for them. I know that this is a very lacking description of any strategy, but I hope you get a sense of how I run my deck. Please ask any questions about my strat. if it'll help you give better advice. Thanks!

I use warrior almost exclusively(Amber tho, i feel she is superior than Boris ). You can check my games: search stevevai1983
I won previous 10games in a row vs 300+ ppl.

I read your general strategy part.. i think you have a major error vs mage.
You always want BF ASAP even vs mage. Without BF it's very hard to win against them. Even you don't use BF, it's still a death race.
You have a timer on your head: after X turn you will die no matter what. So you need to out race them by playing 2 allies at a turn.
This is why you need BF, also Tainted Oracle helps vs mage. Even they supernova you still get 2cards, +BF next turn you are likely to play 2 allies again.

PS: This is the main reason i feel Amber > Boris. Amber kill mages faster lol

    Thanks for the quick response!

Do you think I need to make a big change to my deck if I switched to Amber?

Not really, your deck is already a very decent Amber deck lol (Jeweler's Dream *4 in your deck.)
Even without change anything it will perform very well. However it's better to have 6 weapons for Amber because 4 is just not consistent.
Dimension Ripper is a very good choice, it deal 4 damage per hit and DR destroy mages (chance to get their fireball/lighting bolt LOL, they cant really get anything dangerous from you)

So -3 retreat +2 DR +1 EP = awesome Amber deck

Also you really need at least 1 Enrage (2copies is the optimal number). It win games.

    Something terrible's happened!

Ever since I switched from Boris to amber I've lost every single match. Is there a radically different play style between the two I've missed?

Yes. Amber can't magically kill any 4cc & under ally on t4 to help you regain board. You will have to adjust your strategy with that in mind.

I know that there's no magic formula. I do want to know if there is a major difference between Amber and Boris's play style

I played both i think it's very similar.
Have you added Dimension Ripper? It's a key weapon to deal 4 damage.

For Amber there is a difference in mid-late game, at that point sometimes you play like a mage, ignore the board and nuke opponent down..
    Death race!
