Hey guys. I bring to you a deck I've had considerable success with. I got this list from a fellow by the name of Happy Noodle Boy on the SA Forums.
It's a bit on the expensive side (with the Bloodlusts/Bad Santas) but it's an effective deck. I made Rating 343 thanks to it.
Hero: Zaladar
4 Spark
4 Fire snake
4 Shard of Power
4 Bloodlust
4 Bazar
4 Bad Santa
3 Energy Discharge
2 Eternal Renewal
This is a good, fast deck that has the potential to kill an opponent on turn 5. The stars need to align, yes, but it's not impossible. I've pulled it off twice, and I've only played with it 7-8 times.
With this deck you can deal 10 damage to their hero by turn three. This one is actually fairly easy to pull off -- Turn one: Spark, Turn two: second Spark
, swing with the first one, turn three Shard of Power
, swing with both Sparks. Ten damage.
Get the idea? The gist of this deck is -- get your Fire Snakes and Sparks out, pump them with the Shard of Power, go for the kill (turning your beasts occasionally at the odd Ally that shows up. This isn't even necessary most times, you should really just focus on the hero. More on that later.).
The Bazaarand the Bad Santas get you drawing like crazy, and since the Allies are cheap to cast, chances are your board will always be crowded. Drew two allies but only have 2 resources left? Other decks would end their turn right there. You now have 2 guys on your board.
The good thing about this is, before you cast your Shard of Power, the opponent almost NEVER attacks your Sparks and Snakes. Regarding them as harmless in the short-run, they go for your hero first. Then a Shard drops on the next turn and you're eliminating their allies with ease. Again -- this isn't necessary. You should REALLY focus on the hero. Keep reading.
The Eternal Renewalwill bring back everything from your graveyard (allies, spells, everything), which is great on the late game because you can Eternal Renewal
, then draw 3 cards with a Bad Santa
, and cast 3 fresh Snakes/Sparks or a combination of both.
Zaladar's ability is capable of keeping enemy allies at bay, and whittle down the enemy hero's life. If things get out of control and the opponent manage to get a lot of big guys on the board, you should have a Energy Discharge
at hand.
Most crucial cards in the deck: The allies, of course, Shard of Power, Bad Santa and the Eternal Renewal. Everything else can be used for resources. Consider the Energy Discharge
your lifeboat -- might wanna keep that one around.
Another good thing about Energy Dischargeis that you can focus all your guys into attacking the hero as opposed to his allies. If they kill your guys, you can Energy Discharge
later. He took out a bunch of 1-cost allies, you'll definitely cause more damage to his squad with the Discharge.
Not to mention you're likely to fish them from the grave with the Eternal Renewalanyway. Soon enough they are back on the board, and all that REALLY happened is that his hero took a beating in the meantime. Your Zaladar
is probably still unscathed, since he was focusing on taking out your Snakes and Sparks.
This is what I meant in the beginning. Of course you have to be flexible, but more often than not, you DON'T wanna attack the allies. Give the hero some pain, let the opponent over-extend with allies, and let a Discharge loose on the board.
Regarding Bad Santa: NEVER use it as your last action. I see players doing this all the time and I have NO idea why. If you only have 2 resources and use them on Bad Santa
, you essentially gave the opponent 3 free cards for no immediate benefit, since you won't be able to use them. Always Bad Santa BEFORE anything else you do.
There are exceptions but generally you wanna do a Bad Santa so that you have more options on that turn.
This deck outperforms Frostmire, but you'll need to be an astute player to pull it off. By the time the Portallands, you had better caused a lot of damage to the hero.
