    Banebow and Celestial Armor

The following thread states that Banebow's ability does (or rather should) work against Celestial Armor buffed allies so I curious what happens when the ally is brought to 0. My only thought is it survives with 0 health until its controller's turn then dies is this accurate?

    Thanks

That won't do the same thing though. "Target friendly ally that can be damaged is killed. Draw cards equal to that ally's cost, to a maximum of 3." Based on the wording I don't think it will let you target your shielded ally. It if does its a nice combo as your ally lives.

How are you going to Sacrifical Lamb a holy shielded ally? Holy Shield is a priest card and so is Celestial Armor. I suppose you get an off chance with a dimension ripper but it seems like it would be rare. I believe that if it did happen the can't be killed part of holy shields text would prevent SL from killing your ally but I wonder if it would still let you draw cards? Holy shield prevents damage but it doesn't say it can't be damaged so I would think that you could target it with SL and not kill your ally. But again the odds of getting an SL in a priest deck are very small.

I think the wording of sac lamb disallows its use. The wording of banebow in conjunction with celestial armor seems, to me, more problematic. In my view, the "armor abilities" clause was aimed at things like IG, ASW, and legion united--all passive abilities that contain no clause about the ally being un-killable. The active ability of celestial armor either needs to be treated differently (so banebow's ability does not work on it), or re-worded to remove the no-death clause. It seems ridiculous for an ally with zero health to stay on the field, especially since in clarifying other card rulings the design team has specified that being "killed" (thinking of MC or assassinate here), just means "being reduced to zero health".

Got the answer apparently they agree with you Roustabout.

    From Mojumbo

    "Heya,

Banebow specifically says that his damage can't be prevented by Celestial Armor, so it will drop the opposing ally to 0 health which kills it. Celestial Armor's wording states that it (normally) takes no damage and can't be killed (eg Tidal Wave) but this can not trump banebow's ability if it reduces the ally to 0 health. An ally that is at 0 health will be killed and sent to the graveyard.

    Hope that helps! "

and because I couldn't reply there I am posting it here

Thank you Mojumbo that cleared up a lot.
