Blake Windrunner needs to run like the wind

Sorry if there is another thread discussing this already, but although there is a huge amount of power in human allies, poor Blake Windrunner seems underpowered. There has been extensive discussion other places about having a haste mechanic (MTG players know this means the creature/ally can attack as soon as it is played). Not to say a lot of humans should have haste, but since Blake can already be played on turn two, why not be able to attack immediately due to only having one health. For non-mages who don't have portal at their access, this would be an aggro deck game changer!

Probably because people will complain about going second even more than now.

Hmm, actually, I think this would help going second.

Enemy plays blake, and attacks your hero, you play blake and kill his ally. Could work, but would be damn powerful in burn decks, or decks in general that want the opponent's hero to die asap.

I disagree, it is simply changing the tactic. I would play T2 puwen then T3 blake if needed. Also shadow are a bit screwed since the T1 drops are useless now.

As is blake is my favorite 2 drop do to first strike having a high attack value is more important than hit points. as is blake to aldon is very good and it only works if there is not already something on the table that could kill blake giving him haste might make him the best ally in the game (taking price into consideration). So I think blake is fine as is.

well, what this would be good for is slower decks like my Eladwen one...and who says some Shadow allies can't get Haste too? would be amazing on Belladona if her attack was dropped by maybe one...don't know what I am getting myself into here!!!

Haste doesn't have to be given to a certain amount of allies on each side...Look at it now: humans have stealth, ambush, protector, distract, and cripple. Shadow has: thorns, stoneskin, DD, card draw, and regeneration.

Now, I am a fan of sharing certain abilities...haste and protector are good examples...but I am a staunch believer in keeping certain powers unique. MTG all the way (ironically, haste is a fully red ability in MTG, which is weird I'd suggest it to be shared here...)

... I vote a resounding no. Blake is a powerful card this would push him over the top into horrid brokenness. Blake plus aldon is already the dream start of many decks. With haste he would completely trumps any other two drop and with Aldon he kills most 3 drops. He is balanced because while his damage output is huge for a 2 resource creature he is fragile. It also would be wise no to forget that he was actually nerfed a couple updates ago for being too powerful. Bella plus haste would be equally stupid. She would basically read "Kill target 5< defense creature, draw card, your opponents next attack is directed at Bella instead of your hero."

Well, thing is, that that dreamstart would be more easily countered if blake had haste. Or if something had haste at least.

Not saying it's a balanced change, just being advocate of the devil here.

Clipse: Haste is definitely a interesting mechanic and that is a really good point about haste being used to make the ground battle a little more back and forth (as opposed to huge swings like now) but Blake is so incredibly the wrong ally to try it out on. Haste is a very powerful ability and it shouldn't be added to an already under-costed ally. I am all for giving Dirk haste though. :-D

dirk is a good choice but haste+ambush+2damage=4cc at least
if not then just a new ally.i vote for cheap and weak so as to come quick and kill the first played blakebut viable to withstand 1 backattack from puwen.something like rogue's answer to blake aka nightshade!!

If you want to do things "MTG style" one side could have haste the other first strike since both are abilities that are being suggested for the sake of regaining board control. It would not need to be exclusively human has one shadow has the other it could be they each get 2 of one and 1 of the other.
As for giving these abilities to preexisting allies I vote no unless they are planning on rebalancing that ally anyway.

Haste is too powerful in SE because all allies have first strike and can choose their target.
A Blake with haste would be OP even if it costed 3
And yes, Dirk sucks, he should be buffed.
It could become something like this:

Dirk Saber 4cc
Haste, Ambush
Attack 2, Defence 3

Well, Puwen doesn't help a lot when your opponent plays blake on turn 2.

The point is: Puwen is better vs shadow decks because he doesn't die by Brutalis and Snake, but Blake is better vs other human decks and it is far more useful if you have board control.
So I think both Puwen and Blake are good, just use them in different situations

Dirk doesn't need more hp, he has ambush. Just adding haste is better.

Yeah it's fine. Actually 2 or 3 hp doesn't change a lot for him as nobody plays Arcane Burst

Blake getting haste and having the same cost would be effing retarded.

That would make him a Special Delivery (which costs 4, mind you) that retains board presence once the damage has been dealt... Oh yeah, for HALF the resources of Special Delivery.

I just want to say, I am totally cool with players voicing ideas to change/improve the game, but sometimes I'm just astounded at how poorly thought out those suggestions are. I mean... meh, nevermind.

Blake is fine. You have an offensive option early on, compared to Puwen.
Going first means you can generally play your Blake without fear and crush the enemies Puwen, or force them to wait until they have the ability to regain advantage.

A 2/2 for 3 that had haste would be fine, imo. Even a 3/1 for 3, but not a 3/1 for 2. That's overkill, especially considering that the health is nearly irrelevant once you gain board control against most enemies. Anything with 3 or less hp is getting one shotted by most spells/abilities anyways.

View above post the only way you could have a human ally with haste that hits for 3 is if it costed 5 or has a downside (like you lose 2 hit points when it comes into play) otherwise its just simply better than special delivery unless your opponent is at 3 and has armor (which is way to specific a case for it to warrant use of special deliver if you hve an ally with haste that does the same damage)

For the most part true but it can be useful for decks that have limited DD (Warriors, Rogues, and Hunters) an ally that does 3 damage for 4 would make it completely worthless and if that ally costed 3 say good bye to smite and shield bash as well (and maybe even fireball).

Well, I didn't want to start any arguments here, BlanketEffect, but I just feel like Blake Windrunner should either be reverted to his previous state before the nuke at two hp, or he should get some special ability. And I'm not trying to insult any warriors/hunters here (I think priests and rogues have enough removal), but if you are going to have Special Delivery in your deck either: a) find better removal spells; or b) show some respect for your deck and go get a mage.

Having universal 2cc allies with abilities would be a new precedent for sure. Brutalis, Blake, Puwen, and similarly Fire Snake don't have abilities. I think it keeps the early game simpler.

sparks and pack wolfs have,but again they are abilities of already crippled heroes....

Those are class specific allies, not universal (faction) allies.

Blake is very good if he had 2 hit points it would (probably I wasn't playing at the time he did) give shadow problems because neither their 1 or 2 drops would be able to kill it.

Even for rogues it has its uses. There are times when you need a removal and don't have an ally out so no assassinate retreat is usually better but still. Warriors and somewhat hunters have removal better than special delivery but have no DD to heroes so putting in some special deliveries might be useful for their versatility. That being said it still is not very good but there is no reason to make it worse by introducing an ally that would do the same thing.

It's not about starting arguments - it's about maintaining some semance of balance to the card that are in the existing pool.

To make Blake have haste would be a 3 point direct damage spell and ALSO a 3/1 ally. For 2 cost. That's just way to strong compared to anything else you can drop for 2. And, considering it's a universal Human ally, it'd immediately become an auto-include in every Human deck built. Maybe for 3 cost, but even then, technically it'd be out if balance in terms of effects/cost paid.

Blake is still incredibly strong right now but serves a different role than other two drops. The change to one defense was a great idea because it made the legitimate choice between the 2 resource human allies. At 2 defense there would be no reason to play Puwen. Honestly if anything Blake is still boarding on too powerful as Blake+Aldon is a sick opener given the abundance of 4 defense allies.

After playing a little more and watching combos...

Blake is fine.

I'm serious, blake + aldon can nuke the majority of allies, and you can cast it within 3 turns.

That means you have a chance if you don't have burn to stop him for 2 turns.

TWO. Once he's out, he's out, and you need burn or to mob the field to stop him.

Blake is balanced.
