The numbers are tailored towards a 40 card deck, so for the current 1.28 build. A different deck size would have effect on all numbers, though the main idea would remain the same: Put at least X cards in your deck to support a specific goal, otherwise this goal won't be met in a dependable fashion.

This principle is supposed to provide a quick and easy way to build, refine and double check a deck for the current format. It derives from my own experience in which a goal represented with less than 6 cards in a deck of 40 is just not a reliable option if you are counting on those cards continually throughout a whole lot of matches. As I said in the beginning, it's part gut-feeling, part math.

Will add to the thread some more over the weekend, Sunday or so probably, for example pointing out being able to use "The Rule of Six" for adding as many sub-goals as may fit in order to refine your deck.
E.g. if your Hard Hitters would be 4 Minotaur and 2 Shadow Knights plus you would also like something against stealthed creatures, it might be a good idea to change Minotaur vs Behemoth and together with Thaddeus and your creature removal you have ample of options vs stealthed creatures.

All kidding aside, thanks for the post. Definitely some food for thought.
I suggest trying it yourself and see how it works for you.

A lot of a CCG boils down to math. This principle doesn't remove the creative and interesting part of deck building though, you still have to formulate your goals and make synergies work - the better you do that, the more chances your deck will stand. It is supposed to give your efforts some structure and make certain aspects interchangable without having to start from scratch.

Also this rule does not go into detail on hero abilities. Playing Ter Adun for example you will be able to skip some item destruction cards if you chose to. Hero abilities are about complementing and or substituting your choices. Might write some more on that as well later on.

Well written, but I'm afraid I can't say well thought out. There are so many exceptions, so many game changers and you've barely scratched the surface. Still, a decent framework to help new players along, but there will be a good amount of tweaking needed for any deck made with this system for it to be remotely playable.

My problem is encouraging players to try six different routes, and then call a deck made with it more consistent. That just irks me a bit. A lot of one or two things is generally better than a little of everything imo.

It's not exactly trying 6 routes. It's mentioned that some can be taken out, except the first 2.

And yet the chosen name is the rule of six? Do you see where my point of not being thought out is?

With Wulvens, could this "Rule of Six" be summarized to the following:

    1) Annoying, yet non-fatal, low-cost allies
    2) Card draw mechanic
    3) Survival (I will outlive you)
    4) Prolong the game - Part A
    5) Prolong the game - Part B
    6) Frustrate your opponent

    Just curious?

I did enjoy this post, as a fairly new player to CCG.
