    Shadow Era Guild Battle

I think that with the game getting more popular and the ever increasing number of players going to the forums, guilds are becoming a bigger part of Shadow Era. Although the game itself has little to no support for guilds, I like the fact that guilds are now flourishing more than ever. I find that any online game that provides some sort of player vs player battle, guilds will eventually be formed and will help strengthen the hold a game has on the players.

So to further provide incentive for guilds to thrive, I present

    Shadow Era Guild Battle

    Intro
Danae looked across the meadow and searched for that inner calm that would normally arise when she was presented Nature's endless beauty. It wasn't there though and it did not surprise her much. She had had a vision of this meadow before and there was nothing calm about that vision.

    Blood. Cries. Steel. Fire. Death...

That's what kept creeping into her mind and although the meadow still remained untouched, she knew her visions were not far from the eventual reality. Even now she could pick out signs of the upcoming event. No fauna drinking from the stream. No birds at the fringe of the forest. No insects chirping in the field of grass. If the trees and flowers could uproot themselves, she was sure they would have left as well.

She doubted the animals and insects had the same vision but if they could pick up on anything, it would be the gathering storm of Shadow Energy building up. Where animals would distance themselves from this dark energy, man would converge among it. And this instance will be no different. From the moment she had arrived, she had felt them coming closer and from all directions. The Guilds.

From the oldest to the newest, they were marching their way down and it would not be much longer before the first of them would appear beyond the distance. As Danae stood up, she noticed figures in the horizon. She could not make out who they were but it would not be good for her to be seen there. Danae was a Mod and as such had to be impartial to such events. She took one last look at the meadow and with a slight sigh of the wind, disappeared.

    General Rules:
    1. To set up a match, you must either challenge or be challenged by someone from another guild.
    2. You can only challenge someone if you have not already been challenged and do not have a pending or unreported match.
    3. A challenge must be completed within 10 days time. If it is not, I will provide a ruling on who the winner is depending on the circumstances.
    4. If a challenge has been made and either the hero of the challenger or the challenged has previously been revealed, then I will reveal the hero of the other person. If a match has been played before I can reveal the hero, the match results will remain valid.
    5. Edited challenge posts will be considered void.
    6. Each match will be a best of three games.
    7. Deck content must be locked within a best of three match.
    8. Each participant must only use the hero that was PMed to me by the guild captain.
    9. The result of the match must be posted in this thread and either the winner or loser can report it.
    10. The loser of a match can no longer challenge or be challenged unless a Save or Team Up option was successfully attempted.
    11. The winner of a match can only be challenged again after the results of the match has been reported.
    12. Replacements for guild members unable to play will only be allowed if that guild member has not challenged or been challenged yet. New replacement player will have to use the hero that the original player was to use.

    Options Rules:
    13. Each guild will have one Team Up option and two Save options.
    14. A Save option challenge will only be valid if it is immediately after the defeat of a guild member.
    15. The player being challenged for a Save option is not deck locked to what was used in the previous match.
    16. A Save option cannot be used to revive a guild member who has died in a Team Up matchup.
    17. A Save option can be used whether a player was challenged or if the player was the one who challenged just as long as the challenges are consecutive.
    18. Team Up option must be posted in the thread by individual players and must be done within 1 day of the challenge.
    19. Participants in a Team Up are deck locked for all matches within the Team Up.

    Game rules:
    20. A sync error will have to be replayed unless a player concedes.
    21. A frozen game will have to be replayed unless a player concedes.
    22. If a player is disconnected during a game, the victory goes to the other player unless BOTH players agree to replay or a player concedes.

    Mechanics of the Save Option:
The Save option can be used to save a fellow guild mate by challenging the player who defeated the guild mate as long as long as it is immediately after the defeat and the player to be challenged is still available. If the guild mate is successful, the defeated guild mate is "saved" and can challenge or be challenged again but the opposing player is not considered "defeated" and can still challenge or be challenged. If the second challenge is lost, then the person attempting the Save will also be killed.

    Scenarios for Save Option:
    Scenario 1 - Successful Save:
    1. Guild A member 1 loses to Guild B member 1.
    2. Guild A member 2 immediately challenges Guild B member 1 and attempts a Save.
    3. Guild A member 2 WINS and outcome is:
    - Guild A member 1 is alive
    - Guild B member 1 is still alive
    4. One of the two Save options is used for Guild A.

    Scenario 2 - Failed Save:
    1. Guild A member 1 loses to Guild B member 1.
    2. Guild A member 2 immediately challenges Guild B member 1 and attempts a Save.
    3. Guild A member 2 LOSES and outcome is:
    - Guild A member 1 and 2 are now both dead
    4. One of the two Save options is used for Guild A.

    Scenario 3 - Invalid Save:
    1. Guild A member 1 loses to Guild B member 1.
    2. Guild B member 1 challenges or is challenged by another player.
    3. Guild A member 2 challenges Guild B member 1 to try to attempt a Save.
    4. Save is invalid.
    5. No Save option has been used for Guild A.

Mechanics of the Team Up Option:
Team Up option can be used to team up against a player of an opposing guild. This means that both players in the team will need to be defeated in order for one of them to be defeated. If only one is defeated, then that win is not considered a defeat for the other team member.

    Scenarios for Team Up Option:
Scenario 1 - Single Team Up Success:
    1. Guild A member 1 challenges Guild B member 1.
    2. Guild A member 2 DECLARES a team up and challenges Guild B member 1 as well.
    3. Either Guild A member 1 OR 2 defeats Guild B member 1 and outcome is:
    - Guild A member 1 AND 2 are alive
    - Guild B member 1 is dead
    4. Team Up option is used up for Guild A.

Scenario 2 - Single Team Up Failure:
    1. Guild A member 1 challenges Guild B member 1.
    2. Guild A member 2 DECLARES a team up and challenges Guild B member 1 as well.
    3. BOTH Guild A member 1 AND 2 are defeated by Guild B member 1 and outcome is:
    - Guild A member 1 AND 2 are dead
    - Guild B member 1 is alive
    4. Team Up option is used up for Guild A.

Scenario 3 - Double Team Up:
    1. Guild A member 1 challenges Guild B member 1.
    2. Guild A member 2 DECLARES a team up and challenges Guild B member 1 as well.
    3. Guild B member 2 also DECLARES a team up and challenges the other Team Up.
    4. Order of the matches to be played will be as follows:
    - Initial challenger will play against who was initially challenged.
    - Whoever wins will continue to play against the second (backup) challenger.
    - If the player wins again then that player's guild wins.
    - If the player loses second match, then the backup will take over.
    5. In order to win a Double Team Up, both opposing players must be defeated by either the main challenger or the backup.
    6. Winning Team Up guild will have both it's players alive regardless of match results while losing team will have both their players dead.
    7. Team Up option is used for both guilds.

Scenario 4 - Invalid Double Team Up:
    1. Guild A member 1 challenges Guild B member 1.
    2. A day has passed since the challenge was declared.
    3. Either Guild A or B member 2 DECLARES a team up and challenges Guild A or B member 1 as well.
    4. Team Up is invalid.
    5. No Team Up option is used.

In Scenario 1 & 2, the Team Up Option can be initially declared by either the guild that challenged or the guild being challenged.

    Prize:
    - 10,000 Shadow Crystals to last guild remaining (thanks to a player contribution)
    - 3,000 Shadow Crystals to player with most kills*: Berserker award (thanks to Wulven)
*Tied number of kills will split the prize.

    Schedule:
July 11 - Guild sign up and posting of participants - please specify who the guild contact person will be [CLOSED]
July 12 - Guild contact persons PM members' hero choices to me
July 13 - We start the battle (Friday the 13th!)

Like the fluff at the start Danae, you should try your hand at longer stories.

I do like the format of this, looks good, and relatively quick too.

Between this, BDK's Guild Wars 2 and Nataku's proposed League, guilds are going to be busier than ever!

Fluff?!? I do like writing the occasional short stories but I have to find the time for them. To tell you the truth, one of the reasons I want to run this tournament is because I want to write more "fluff" as the event unfolds similar to what Atomzed and Caitlyn did for the A1 Siege.
