I think 80 cards is the perfect size.

Smaller = better deck is nothing mythical. It is about maximising draw probabilities. Small decks give u better probabilities to draw the desired card.
U run a 64-card deck. Compare it with another mage who runs a 40-carder, the 40 is likely to draw all his major burns to finish off Elementalis before more allies can be buffed.

The only issue with a bigger, less concentrated deck is that they are very erratic. Having a smaller deck with a higher concentration of small variety will allow you to be more consistent and more confident in how your games will play out. Like you said it was probably more luck than a good deck build that allowed you to get those two wins. As for not liking retreat/dou sometimes killing your opponents allies is not an option(as was said before retreat is also nice for getting nasty attachments off your allies). For example, retreat will be better vs an infused gargoyle than your allies/abilities. I think my favorite thing about retreat is that it prevents(to some extent) snowballing. If you play retreat it causes your opponent to take a step back or at the very least renders his/her current board setup less viable.

If you keep your deck size to a minimum you can increase your chances of getting a T5 Raven.
With 4 copies of Raven and a 39 card (excluding hero) deck, your chance of T5 Raven is 71% without additional draw.
With 4 copies of Raven and a 45 card (excluding hero) deck, your T5 Raven drops to 64%.
Like FDL said, it is not a myth.

Bigger deck = Bigger variety of cards = Resistance to more situations, but that, of course, is limited to an extent. U don't see me adding every card I have and get a massive 100+ card deck like some fools lol. I've used a 40-card deck, before. Results were pretty much random. 64 works almost perfect for me.
I don't always face Elementalis, u know. Yes, I could use a smaller deck when facing it but what if I ended up against a badass Moonstalker? U see my point? I rather have an all-round deck that works decent against all heroes.
It's funny how you realize that 100 card decks are worse compared to your 60+. But you're oblivious as to why a 60+ is worse than a 40. If you want to ask why you are not doing well, I think you should heed the advice handed to you by some of the best players in the game, who have posted in this thread. If you seriously want to improve, cut it to 40. Until then you're still the rookie that you said you didn't want to seem like in the op.
