I kinda like the suggestion. Why the rating limitation though? Also, often are higher ranked players favored, so you should get less gold when betting on the higher ranked player.

Ad 1) to avoid cheating: it is your own match - if it was your friend's match with someone else, you should bet on second player and your friend will loose for you - and that is why I suggested rating limitations

I think youre only allowed to bet on yourself. Much like poker, only the winner takes the money.

I prefer the developers to give other priorities. This does not add anything to gameplay.
