Allies can not attack or perform their abilities on the turn they were summoned.
Also, combat works a bit differently than in some other card games:
1. Choose your target
2. You deliver your attack damage
3. *IF* the target is still alive, it "defends" and attacks back
Plus there are various cards and abilities that can alter the normal combat flow, eg making a target unable to defend so you get a free attack

Sounds like an interesting combat system, once health is gone does it return eventually or is it lost? And sounds like a nice ability to have in a deck.

Its a more costly but powered up version of Parvink from WoW TCG. Definitely a card that will get you card advantage early on.
