iPhone App for the forums?

I like Tapatalk because the New Posts option will let you go far back into past to make sure you've not missed anything. No such option exists on the forum site, so you end up having to navigate by section which can take a long time.

Only notifications when incoming pms and subscribed threads, so subscribe your ops

If you are creating your OWN forums other than shadowera,you may need to ask AnAdolt how they register...but if you are talking about ProBoards,I believe they have their standalone forum app (I cant find it on app store though).
