I don't think I will replace night shade just because I either want Blake windrunner and or Nightshade in my hand on the first draw. Without those on turn two you just eat unnecessary damage. Besides aldon/recon combo will bring him up to 2/1 and 3/1 for a turn. Being unblockable that's a nice add on to your overall creature damage.
Nightshade is very strong for the same reason that Fire Snake was (is) very strong. Yaemon's 1.25 Tourney-winning Majiya deck featured 4x Fire Snakes for a reason. If you understand Fire Snake, you understand that Nightshade is like Fire Snake on steroids.
