    Hypothetical New Class: Paladins

Just adding another idea to my portfolio...
**Note: this is a living project, so changes will be made directly to this post.
My other builds: Warlock, Shaman, Commander

    Class: Paladin
Themes: Religious fervor, Marks, Holy Relics, Justice, Fighting the Good Fight

A Paladin is a cross between the Warrior, Wulven, and Priest classes

    Faction: Human

    Notation: (number) = Shadow Energy

    Heros:

    Abbot Foehammer
    Hp: 29
Purge: (3): Remove the last attachment played on target - friendly targets heal 2 damage; enemy targets receive 2 damage

    Sister Ariel
    Hp: 29
Faith Healer: (3) transfer the last attachment played on one target to another

    Class Cards:

    Mark of Faith
    Cost 2
    Paladin Ability, attachment (enemy only)
When the target of this ability takes damage, draw a card

    Mark of Salvation
    cost 3
    Paladin Ability, attachment (enemy only)
Target cannot defend. You heal 2 damage each time they are attacked.

    Mark of Judgement
    Cost 3
Paladin Ability, attachment (enemy ally only)
The enemy hero takes 2 damage when target ally is attacked

    Symbol of Hope
    cost 4
    Paladin Item
Your allies take no damage and have +1 attack until your next turn

    Blessing of Alacrity
    Cost 5
    Paladin Ability, attachment (hero only)
You may attack twice before being exhausted

    Righteousness
    Cost 2
    Paladin Ability, attachment
Target friendly ally has +1 attack and is a protector

    Martyrdom
    Cost 3
    Paladin Ability
Until the end of your next turn you receive +1 damage and +1 attack after every combat. You cannot defend.
(Just to clarify, as the wording is difficult, you both take and deal more damage under the effects of Martyrdom)

    Holy Relic
    Cost 4
    Paladin Weapon (rod)
    Attack: 1, Durability: n/a

    Piety of St. Sledge
    Cost 5
    Paladin Weapon (hammer)
    attack: 2, durability: 4
Piety of St. Sledge does +1 damage against Marked targets.

    Resplendent Halo
    Cost 4
    Paladin
    Armor
    Defense 0, Durability 4
Enemies deal -1 damage when attacking your hero

A lot of these suggestions are UP. I think you need to make them more powerful and stop cloning existing cards.

In most games Paladins have auras. Perhaps it feels like copying other games, but it could make Paladins more than a combination of Priests and warriors. Having a more costly healing ability than the priests is fine. Having a damage ability or a "remove harmful effect only from friendly allies" ablity is also fine. However they could have auras with a duration, or even auras that enter the game face-down. Auras that heal 1 damage on allies at the beginning of the turn, or give allies armor, since Paladins depend on heavier armors more than warriors do.

The male hero's ability should be remove attached card from opposing target and for each card removed target suffers 2 damage.

The marks idea is too shamanish.. Use cool LATIN names for the moves like.

    Lux Magnus
    Cost : 4
Destroy all faced down cards on the playing field.
Text : The great light reveals all.

    Lex Aeterna
    Cost : 2
Next damage taken by target is doubled.
Text : Bane of the banes.

    Ventus Dolorosa
    Cost : 1
Each player returns 1 ally in play back to their hands.
Text : The honor of the wind, brings about peace.

And of course you need more dual effect skills like.

    Chalice of blessings
    Cost : 4
    Ongoing
When cast on an human ally, ATK + 1 and damage taken is reduced by 1. When cast on a shadow ally, target will take 2 damage when commencing an attack.

No auras please. I'm not sure if shadow era wants to be a WoW.

Wow, I missed the Commander class when I was checking posts. As for making this like WoW, I had no idea it used auras. I only have experience with MtG. However, it is inevitable that the game will have common mechanics with other games. You won't be able to create anything if you try to avoid similarities with every other games. If something works use it.

You're absolutely right. Although when I think of Paladin auras I think of Diablo II :P

Your class ideas like Warlock and Paladin ... they just seem like ripoffs of WoW classes.

I'd like to see someone come up with more original ideas.

    How about:

    Daemon Hunter

    Wychblade

    Inquisitor

    Oracle

    Titanslayer

    Dragonblooded (half dragon half human)

    Paragon

    Bard

    Psyker

    Vampyre

    etc

I mean c'mon...let's get a bit more creative. "Paladin, Warlock, Shaman...etc" these have all been done and done and done again.

True. But this is a fantasy setting with Warrior, Hunter, Mage, and Priest already in existence. I do have 2 more that I'm working on that are not "classic" fantasy archetypes. Can I use your class names in future build posts?

BTW Wychblade, Dragonblooded, Bards, and Psykers have been around since pre-WoW D&D so :P
WoW cloned D&D tabletops with half of their stuff, so it's safe to say it's standard genre-staples.

At least the one's I quoted aren't cookie-cuts of WoW...D&D has been around for decades, so it's reasonable to assume it has some cool names for classes.

Feel free to take any of my ideas and run with them.
