Strategy analysis:
My current version takes a Shadow Energy denial approach.
All star: Barrabus the Tainted
In my opinion, Bloodfang/Barrabus is the most OP combo in the current meta.
Turn 4 Shadow Font + Barrabus = kill one ally + big body + SE swipe.
The SE swipe destroys Baduruu, Victor, Lance, Gravebone, Majiya etc. (And many more to come). Basically, it destroys any hero with ability that needs 4 or 5 SE to activate, and literally it changes a bad matchup into a good matchup for Bloodfang.
You may add to the pain by playing Aldreides the Aged and Contemplate. You will find your opponent unable to use hero ability for the whole game. Shadow energy lock is more painful than resource denial imo.
Ways to use Hall of Doors:
1. Summon Shadow Knight, retrieve one ally from graveyard, and then upgrade to:
- Forgotten Horror, deal 4 damages and frozen an opponent ally at end of turn. Or
- Ogloth the Glutton, if opponent has no ally on board. Or
- Crusher of the Weak (not a favorable play as the on-summon ability is not activated).
2. Summon Forgotten Horror, deal 4 damages and frozen an opponent ally, and then upgrade to:
- Dakrath, if opponent has good melee attack. Or
- Aldreides the Aged, if opponent relies on ability. Or
- Vull the Insatiable, if you have extra damage source. Or
- Barrabus the Tainted, the last resort (not a favorable play as the on-summon ability is not activated).
3. Summon Crusher of the Weak, exile 1 ally, and then upgrade to:
- Dakrath, if opponent has good melee attack. Or
- Aldreides the Aged, if opponent relies on ability. Or
- Vull the Insatiable, if you have extra damage source. Or
- Barrabus the Tainted, the last resort (not a favorable play as the on-summon ability is not activated).
The interaction between Barrabus the Tainted and Aldreides the Aged is complicated. Make sure you count the SE changes to calculate the damages.
Variations
The deck is so versatile because you can change the ally lineup and support cards to adjust to the current meta.
The core cards of the deck are as followings and you can fit other cards into it to suit your style.
Core cards:
4x Shadow Knight
4x Forgotten Horror
4x Crusher of the Weak
4x Barrabus the Tainted
4x Shadow Font
4x The Wilds: Hall of Doors
Cards to consider:
Shadow energy denial: Aldreides the Aged, Contemplate
Resource denial: Here Be Monster
Haste: Will To Fight
Anti-aggro: Black-Sky Behemoth, Darkwood Wraith, Furrion Terror, Now You're Mine, Captured Prey
Anti-burn: Regeneration, Full Moon
Anti-haste: Towering Brute, Gromm's Axe
Anti-stealth: Pathfinder's Machete
Anti-weapon: Tiger Wulf, Kairos Doombringer
Anti-stall: Widespread Decay
Anti-attachment: Shold: Tempest Gorge, Sacrificial Lamb, Slingblade Demon
Anti-elementals: Aldreides the Aged, Blackened Heart
Conclusion:
Tier: 0
Given the above versatility, I would make a bold statement that Bloodfang has no bad matchup. You can put up a decent fight against all hero, and have significant advantages over many of them. Highly recommend to use in both tournament and quick match.
Happy hunting!
