I believe this is because his attack starts before he gets disabled (SRO let's active player effect happen before opposing trap effect).

^ Yeah, I think it's just confusing though because the disabled animation still shows on Riphide before the attack, so even if the SRO allows the attack to happen first, it still looks like he should be disabled because of the animation.

Death trap behaves in a similar fashion with on summon abilities. Ability resolves before trap. Which is the intended as I recall.
