    Single-Player Campaign News

    Hi all! I'm very pleased to share some development news with regards Single-Player Campaign.


    FIRST PHASE OF DIALOGUE COMPLETE

    We now have full dialogue for 1-star difficulty for all ten Call of the Crystals Human Heroes: Boris, Amber, Victor, Gwen, Nishaven, Eladwen, Jericho*, Zhanna, Lance and Serena.

    This means that players now have the opportunity to hear the story of how the Shadow Era began on Balor from ten different perspectives! (It's recommended you go through missions 1-10 on 1-star before trying 2-star/3-star for a better story experience.)

    It also means that new players will finally get the kind of experience we always wanted for them when they try out their free starter deck for the first time against the AI. Missions 1-10 for each of these ten heroes have been carefully designed to act as both an introduction to our rich lore and also an introduction to the gameplay, steadily bringing in more concepts while the player also sees more of their deck. And, as they collect new starter decks, they can go through campaigns for the different classes to learn about each one.

    With all this in mind, we believe this is now a great time to bring Shadow Era to Steam, so we will be starting the process for that in October.


    RANDOM FOILS IN CAMPAIGN CHESTS

    All campaign chests now reward random foils instead of SC (this went live on Monday 25th September)

    10 star chest = random Common foil from CotC usable by that hero.
    20 star chest = random Uncommon foil from CotC usable by that hero.
    30 star chest = random Rare/Epic foil from CotC usable by that hero.

    Please note that these foils take approximately five minutes to show up in the deckbuilder due to caching of your collection (or you can log out and in again to refresh it).

    Anyone who has already opened a chest for SC and wishes their progress for particular heroes to be reset so they can earn a foil instead can submit a support request for that (which will be escalated to someone with database access to make the change).

    With 32 heroes and 2 maps for each, that's a lot of foils available to add to your collection! And it should be noted that foils normally only found in Prize Packs are up for grabs too. Good luck, everybody!


    FURTHER DEVELOPMENT

    The next phase for adding dialogue will be focused on the CotC Shadow Heroes.

    Aside from that, we are committed to steadily improving what is there over time, so please let us know if you have any feedback (especially if it's good feedback to help us know what we're doing right).



    * The majority of Jericho's dialogue was guest-written by Ross Edwards (BP Ross) for which we are very thankful.

    There are differences in dialogue between same of missions of different difficulty?

    Eladwen vs Beasts. Cave Spider that is already on the board when game starts doesn't have stealth animation.

    There is no dialogue for 2-star and 3-star at this time. Since you will have already seen it for 1-star, we put you straight into the action rather than repeat it.

    Thats great news!

    Have you made progress about bug fixes and AI improoment?

    SE brought to steam will be a great move if has a bug free polished campaing with decent AI.

    Before both those remaining issues are adressed, bringing the game in a vast player base might be premature with potential dangers, like the first reliase of the campaing.

    Last mission of map 1 for Zhanna. Dialogue is led by Zaladar but opponent is Elementalis. AI also gets stuck on t4.

    Thanks. I've fixed this now with a workaround since it did actually say "Zaladar" for the deck in the editor, but there's a client issue causing the two Elemental starter decks to have been switched.

    Yes, there are some other things we would like addressed before it becomes active on Steam, which will involve a client update to tackle AI issues in particular, but we are ready to start the process of getting it there at least.

    Thanks. This is a visual client bug unfortunately, but should not affect gameplay. It also affects the attack shown initially for an ally when it is being modified (e.g. War Banner and Brutalis start on board yet Brutalis only *shows* 1 attack that first turn but it will function as 2 attack correctly).
