Tricks to not freeze Elementalis?

Is there any specific things I need to do to not have the game freeze? If I alt tab or switch to my other screen at all it seems to freeze every time.

Right now I'm just trying to kill it as fast as possible before it freezes, but it still takes me like 4-5 attempts to get it to go past turn 5.

Actually I think I might be on to something. Never clear the board. If Elementalis has one ally alive, it doesn't seem to freeze.

Which mission are you referring to? I didn't want to have to do this, but 3.51 has taken so long to come out (which contains the fix) that I think I should just swap Elementalis out for a different hero.

Yeah, as far as I've found, it has to do with whether he has an ally out or not at the time of using his ability. If he doesn't have one out he just freezes like he doesn't know what to do without an effect target.
