IGN: BP Shadows R Us
Just realized that I never posted the final write up after the WC was concluded... Seems dam late to do so at this point but why not? Hope you guys enjoy.
The sun was slowly making its way down to the horizon. Shadows began stretching from their hosts as if awaking from a long mid-day nap reaching into the land.
From around one of these hosts crawls a Fire Snake. The commotion had died down and the Fire Snake maneuvered its way through the battle torn land towards a glimmer in the distance. Arriving at the object it let out a hiss and spit a small burst of flame at the Fire Snake that appeared from nowhere. The flames glanced off the other Fire Snake having no effect. The Snake readied itself, waiting to strike once again. Suddenly, the Fire Snake lurched backwards as the challenger in front of it took to the sky and disappeared as the reflective surface of the Cutlass was placed onto Oliver’s shoulder. “I have the Cutlass” Oliver said as he readjusted Serena’s arm on his shoulder to support her. The movement re-opened a wound in his chest and he fell to a knee as the blood began to flow. A grunt forced its way out through his clenched teeth as his head dropped to see the soaking of blood dropping from his jacket. Serena turned her head and looked at Oliver but he did not meet her gaze. Serena knew Oliver would not look at her so that she could see the pain in his face and his heart. She took the pressure from him and looked to her right. That dust still had not settled but the battle had finished. There surely was a victor but it was not her. Not today. They must retreat. Oliver noticed Serena had looked away towards where the final battle had waged. The shame he felt for failing his master overtook his pain and he stood up determined to get Serena off this battlefield. So many times, she had saved his life. He needed to rest however, his disgrace would not allow him to do so. He would get her out of this place if it meant losing his life doing so. They had been defeated today. The Rogues though, are resilient, and will always return.
Gasping for breath due to its grave injuries, a gargoyle dragged itself along the ground towards its goal. It had only one mission remaining, and it would not fail. Within striking distance, the Gargoyle raised its limb and dropped a ferocious blow to demolish its target. The Gargoyle removed its claw from the crushed flower, took a deep breath, and blew onto the liquid released from the flower before it could be absorbed into the barren landscape. No breath entered back into the Gargoyle. The liquid landed onto a large piece of a broken Armor Of Ages. A slight glow overtook the liquid and a subtle vibration flowed through it. The liquid started to move and pooled together at the center of the broken piece of armor. A small slit formed and slowly opened with a dull light shining through. The pool of liquid raised up from the armor and focused on the Gargoyle. Slowly, the puddled glided off of the armor piece and across the ground towards the Gargoyle that had died with its last mission accomplished. The puddle entered through the Gargoyle’s gaping mouth and the corpse began to shake. Slowly it began to shrivel as Praxix absorbed what liquid was left within it and tore up through the tough hide of the Gargoyle. Praxix looked at the cloud of dust in the distance but knew he had not the strength to deal with any battle at this point. Praxix’s eyes sealed shut and it flattened itself to an innocent puddle and began to seek cover. This will be tougher than expected. Elementals however, have nothing but time.
Even this far from the battlefield, Amber could still see the dust cloud in the distance as her wounds were tended to under the shade of a tree. She had made an early exit from the battle but denied her soldiers pleas to move further from danger. It is already disgraceful for a Warrior to run from battle. If she was found and killed, so be it. As Amber tried to figure what she had done wrong, she took notice of a puddle moving in the distance. A smirk came across her face as she grabbed a rock from the ground and threw it towards the puddle. The rock fell into the puddle splashing it about. The puddle pulled itself together and raised up slowly turning to look at her direction. The soldier tending to Ambers wounds was shocked at the sudden movement from Amber and horrified at what she had done. If that creature attacked, he knew not if he could protect her. Amber though, smiling through the sweat and dirt on her face, leaned forward from her sitting position and beckoned the puddle to come her way while she grabbed hold of her Jewelers Dream bringing a slight purple glow to the blade with the last of her power. To her dismay, the puddle turned away, flattened out, and continued on its way. Amber flopped back against the tree and her Jewelers dream fell from her hand losing the glow from her Crystal’s power. Amber closed her eyes and began to laugh. “I guess there will be no glorious death in battle for me today” she said with disgust. “Looks like I have something to look forward to.”
There is no pain for an Elemental. Energy is disrupted, not injured. However, this has been the first time Zaladar found itself so in need of energy that shards of it were falling away as the internal glow of energy fell dimmer and dimmer. Slowly, Zaladar dragged itself forward towards the purple glow ahead. The loud crack of thunder made its way through the valley and Zaladar new its escape was near. Finally, reaching out, Zaladar grabbed the purple glowing Shadowvain in its hand and rolled over to its back looking up at the muddied sky. This cloud formation had not come to be on its own. That creature had utilized it to bring forth destruction. Quite impressive for one not of ancient and everlasting energy. Zaldar raised up the Shadowvein towards the sky. With what energy remained, it gave as powerful a burst as possible into the weapon bringing forth a great glow. The clouds above began to roar with rage over the taunting of Zaladar. They would not allow this being to wait any longer. A large bolt of lightning peered through the clouds sizing up its victim and dove towards the Shadowvein pointing up to the clouds provoking them to do their worst. The bolt struck the weapon and continued to flow trying to disintegrate this being that dared to question it power. With lighting continuing to flow into it, Zaladar turned the Shadowvein on itself and thrust it down through its chest allowing the lighting to flow directly through it’s body. Zaladar’s internal glow instantly matched the brightness of the lightning then vanished. As the lightning bolt returned to the clouds, a face could be made within it. As Zaladar rose up into the clouds it took notice of the dusty cloud that hung over the area where the final battle had concluded. A quick command mentally shot a bolt of lighting into the cloud. A parting gift from an ancient being that had been delayed, not defeated.
Bane Bow found herself scattered about the battle field. That last bone she had pulled was a mistake. Once pulled, she had fallen literally to pieces. Banebow had no choice as this Mage had proven to be much more of a match than anticipated. Devastating in battle. Alluring in appearance. Quite the combination. If she could sigh, this would be the time to do so. The armies she had brought usually sent most running in terror from their decaying stench and hulking power. Instead, her armies had abandoned her and gone running from the battle. This knowledge of how to manipulate the elements had leveled the advantage much more than anticipated. A mistake that would not be made again. A sudden pinching on the top of her skull broke Banebow’s train of thought as one of the surviving vermin took her skull up in its mouth and began to make a quick retreat. Banebow could see other vermin running with their mouths full of her bones and following behind. To think that her retreat was in the mouths of Vermin and not her own two feet… As her head was bouncing up and down with the running rythem of the Vermin, Banebow focused her vision as she heard thunder then a flash of light as a bolt of lightning came roaring from above. Here she thought things could not get any worse.
I could not fit it all into one post... Here is the final part, Majiya
A slender and delicate hand raised up to greet the agitated and ferocious bolt of lightning that had been ordered to do great harm to Majiya. The bolt of lightning though found itself being cradled within the palm of this mage’s hand, it actually felt quite nice, before being diverted with a simple flick of the wrist right into a small pack of scattering Vermin. The Vermin, and a skull?, screeched as the lightning singed their bodies and strew them about. Slowly, the dust began to settle and Majiya’s face, eyes staring angrily, yet intoxicatingly, towards the sky emerged. She turned her gaze towards the oddity moving away from her. Reduced to such a pathetic puddle. If she had the power remaining, she would be sure to finish that troublesome being off for good.
She turned towards a shuffling as it approached her through the settling dust. It was an urigon approaching her with a mouth full of bones from her opponent as a trophy offering.
“Go ahead, enjoy.” Majiya said to the Urigon.
“Nooooooooooo…” came a strange howl from the distance in the same voice that had screeched when the lightning struck that pack of Vermin.
Majiya’s eyebrows raised as she heard the cry but quickly disregarded it. A majority of her army had been slain in this recent battle. Very few remained. That Troll though… she felt that thing might be with her for all of eternity. She gazed upon it and set it on fire, just for the fun of it, with her magic and it ran away, arms swinging wildly in the are before falling face first into the dirt. A quick wiggle and a new troll tore up through the scorched shell of the previous and gave her that dam stupid smile.
“What a foul being you are” Majiya said to the Troll as it ran to her and embraced her leg as if nothing had ever happened.
Majiya gave a quick glance around at the battle field and the many fallen bodies. The Heroes seemed to all have made it out alive. This only meant that nothing had truly been accomplished.
Majiya raised her hands and poured what energy she had remaining into her final spell, a portal. A bright blue orb slowly left her hands and slowly floated away from her. Majiya snapped her fingers and the ball of light quickly stretched into a doorwar. She went take a step but realized she was being weighed down by that dang Troll. Majiya touched the troll on its head and set it on fire to remove it from her leg. The Troll once again ran around arms swinging before falling dead to the ground. Again.
As Majiya was walking towards the Portal, a small whimper made her look back and see the new Troll standing within its dead shell. It did not want to be left behind. Majiya shook her head and continued forward. She reached down to pick up a bone and turned back to the Troll when she reached the portal. She showed the bone to the Troll and said “go get it!” as she threw the bone through the portal.
As the bone disappeared into the portal, Majiya once again heard that strange voice in the distance yell out “Oh come on!”
She had figured it out by now and smiled as she disappeared through the portal with the Troll jumping in right along with her.
