Changes to Rated Matches for October 2017

Serious question: Is the Gold and XP per win not high enough to encourage grinders? We could tweak that if necessary. There's also the possibility of enhanced rewards (e.g. random foil for 10 wins in a row with specific hero) and spot prizes. I could add those things in server-side during October.

For me the exp and gold per match are more than enough, but i suggest to add missions (and your 10 win streak idea can fit in mission category quite nicely)

Most games have locked rating so i think the change is positive, it's nice to see players with 500+ rating.. my only concern is that because of no rating refresh new players with 0 rating will have a hard time finding match or even winning it.

New players sign up all the time (about 200 per day) and they do play games, so I think there will always be low rated players to pair them with, even if we don't reset everyone else's rating at end of October.

Also, I've widened the rating gap for matching low-rated players a couple of days ago and just removed the "can't play someone you played in previous two games" for anyone below 150 rating.

If waiting time is too long for new players then that is very bad and we should sort that out, but the easiest way is to just have lots of active players which we are working on.

yes i agree with you it is fair that the players with best skill should get prices. but for the good of the game and the community i do not think it will be the best thing because players will not like it when nothing changes and the same players get the rewards every month. at least with the old system anyone can get first place if they have enough time to play a lot. but that is just a thought i am looking forward to this new system. but it maybe not a good system for the long run.

Hmm. That's a tough one. Aren't the same people grinding out lots of games every month for top Score at the moment? Don't many people just not bother at all for that because they can't commit to playing enough games?

I personally believe and hope that the Best Score Leaderboard is going to end up very competitive and change per month. There are a lot more than 100 great players so it will be about how they assess the meta and perform that month. (If the Top 10 stays very static over multiple months, I will be incredibly surprised!) And there are new players and intermediate players improving all the time to put themselves into the mix!

With regards the people who might seem like they are no longer catered for by this system, the plan is to also add other incentives and challenges once this main system is operational, like hero streak tracking and so on.

It's been interesting to see the prototype Best Score Leaderboard fill up the last couple of days. I don't know how many people were actually trying to top it, but it's in good shape. I've added a Rating column on there which will help demonstrate whether high rating correlates with high Best Score or not.

Hi Gondorian! There's one thing I'd like to complain about.
The new scoring system makes it so much easier for veterans to win several prizes using numerous accounts.

I do not agree.

What the new score system does is make you play seriously to earn prizes. I will say that top 50 in score is made up of thebmore veteran players of the game. However, there is just as much opportunity for others to score as well. Veterans may have the complete set but there are many competitive decks that are not expensive to put together and can get you good score.

The only problem at the moment is how people can camp with no worries to their score. That is something that I do think needs to be addressed.

Here is an example of a fun and easy to play deck that is not very expensive I think to play. Rush Mage is also very easy to play and can give great results.

How many games did you play with each account? If you can remember. I know it’s been a while.

Also, were you able to camp and keep your spots? Top 10 does not seem to change much. Maybe the same for top 20

Not sure how many games. And yeah I hit my highest scores earlier in the month. My rank did slip as people ended up scoring higher than I later.
