Changes to Rated Matches for October 2017

    Hi all!

    ***UPDATED***

As of October 1st, the following changes will apply for Rated matches, intended to improve competition and enjoyment:

    1. The maximum deck size for Rated matches will be 80 cards plus hero.

    2. Each player's current Score will be calculated as the sum of their most recent 50 Match Scores that month only. (As with the previous Score system, your Match Score for a victory is YourRating*OpponentRating/100, your Match Score for a loss is 0 and any games you draw are treated as though they didn't happen.)

    3. Your highest Score each month (representing your best 50-match period that month) will always be stored as your Best Score, so there is no risk of harming it and every reason to continue trying to improve on it.

    4. The Best Score Leaderboard will show the players with the top 100 Best Scores, acting as the ultimate measure of player skill and performance each month, and those players will be rewarded accordingly. In addition, for October, the top 4 Best Scores will earn invites to WC2017 Grand Finals!

    5. Your Player Profile will show your Best Score with ranking and also your Mean Best Score with ranking. (The Mean Best Score ranking will be helpful to track your progress compared to others before you reach 50 matches.)

    6. After 1st October, there are no plans to reset player Ratings (which are used for match-making and calculating the Match Score for a victory) again. This will mean that you will always be paired with someone of similar skill regardless of how long you have been absent for. (Your Match Score history and Best Score are reset at the start of every month, however).

Please Note: For risk-free games that do not affect Rating or Score, we already automatically pair players who create Custom Games with default options and no password. The added advantage here is that you can see people waiting as well.

You can see an example of the new Leaderboard here (the data has been collected from matches since noon GMT on 29th Sept): http://game.shadowera.com/rankings2.php

I'll reserve the post below to answer any questions you might have while I'm readying the new Score system for deployment!
