Snare Trap activates and snare trap gets exiled as the ability states, while Spirit Warden stays in play unaffected.

Is this a bug or am I missing something about Spirit Warden's Steadfast ability?

Yes, it has to do with Spirit Warden's Steadfast ability. Steadfast basically means that said ally can't leave the field by any method other than outright killing it. Therefore, an ally with Steadfast can't be returned to the hand or exiled.

To add, the only ability that can get rid of an ally with Steadfast without killing it is Transmogrification Curse.

Explanation of that: It doesn't leave play when it converts from one type to another.

But don't forget the cards that make the ally lose passive abilities like Shocking Grasp!
