Why would anyone sell them for gold if they are only obtainable for SC??? (gold is pretty much worthless...3-4 million gold - what can it buy? nothing I don't already have).

You can buy them with gold, you just need to wait for those with extras. Not everyone has 3-4 million gold, and since you can buy any card in the game with gold bar 2, it seems valuable.

It has value until you have all the cards as shadow mann stated. Once you do, there's little reason to care about selling cards to the merchant unless you're timing it so that your or your guild alts or other guildies of yours need certain ones. I myself am sitting on 1.2 mil and nothing to do with it.

Seems like the new allies are not widely used yet. Not game changing enough as compared to the aldmor or twilight clan perhaps

They don't seem very spectacular on their own. Bland even. As an elementalis user, I am not sure why I would use them over my existing shadow allies.

The outlaws seem to work well with Victor. Them and Armored Sandworm and Tainted Oracle. I still need one or two more copies though.
