    Preview of Balance Changes for 3.12

    Hi all!

    We achieved some great balance in v2.92, but then released 67 new cards into the pool, including a brand new card type. That's thrown the balance off a bit, so this update is predominantly intended to address that. A secondary aim is to make the Locations feel more like locations, with better shared context between players.


    SHATTERED FATES

    Vess Swifthands - Ability changed to "3SE: The next 3 attachments you summon this turn each cost you 3 less resources." (from "3SE: Until the end of your turn, your attachments cost you 3 less resources to summon").

    Twilight Ritualist - Ability changed to "2: If you control another Twilight ally, target opposing ally, item or ability with cost 3 or less is exiled, and Twilight Ritualist is killed at the end of your turn." (from "2: If you control another Twilight ally, target opposing ally, item or ability with cost 4 or less is exiled, and Twilight Ritualist is killed at the end of your turn.").

    Knight of Unaxio - Ability changed to "Steadfast. 0: Target ability in your hand is discarded: Knight of Unaxio gains +2 base attack and +1 health." (from "Steadfast. 0: Target ability in your hand is discarded: Knight of Unaxio gains +2 base attack and +2 health.")

    Exaltation - Ability changed to "Attach to target friendly ally. That ally has +4 attack and +4 health. While you control only one Exaltation, that ally has steadfast and its attachments can't be targeted by opposing players." (from "Attach to target friendly ally. That ally has +4 attack, +4 health and steadfast, and its attachments can't be targeted by opposing players.").


    LOST LANDS

    General of Unaxio - Health reduced to 6HP (from 7HP).

    Twilight Luminary - Attack increased to 2 (from 1). Health increased to 6HP (from 5HP). Ability changed to "Friendly Twilight allies with cost 2 or less have haste. 2SE: Seek a Twilight ally." (from "Other friendly Twilight allies have haste. 2SE: Seek a Twilight ally.").

    Avatar of Twilight - Cost increased to 6cc (from 5cc). Stats increased to 4/4 (from 3/3). Ability changed to "When Avatar of Twilight is summoned, the top 2 Twilight allies in your graveyard with cost 5 or less are returned to play with 1 base attack and 1 health." from ("When Avatar of Twilight is summoned, the top 3 Twilight allies in your graveyard are returned to play with 1 base attack and 1 health. When Avatar of Twilight is killed, she is exiled.").

    Kallista - Cost reduced to 5cc (from 6cc). Stats changed to 3/6 (from 4/8).

    Forgotten Horror - Health increased to 4HP (from 3HP).

    Wulven Traitor - Ability changed to "While Wulven Traitor is the only Wulven ally you control, it has ambush. While you control a non-Wulven hero, draw a card at the end of each turn you summoned another Wulven ally." (from "Ambush. While you control a non-Wulven hero, draw a card at the end of each turn you summoned another Wulven ally.").

    Wildfang, Wulven Renegade - Ability changed to "While Wildfang is the only Wulven ally you control, he has ambush. While you control a non-Wulven hero, the first other Wulven ally you summon each turn costs you 1 less resource." (from "Ambush. While you control a non-Wulven hero, other Wulven allies cost you 1 less resource to summon.").

    Aldmor Artisan - Ability changed to "The first artifact with cost 4 or greater you summon each turn costs 2 less resources. . 2SE: Seek an artifact with cost 4 or greater." (from "Artifacts with cost 4 or greater cost you 2 less resources to summon. 2SE: Seek an artifact with cost 4 or greater.").

    Aldmor Scout - Ability changed to "Haste. 1SE: Seek an Aldmor ally." (from "Haste. Ambush. 1SE: Seek an Aldmor ally.").

    Scriptures of the Departed - Ability changed to "When a friendly Twilight ally is killed, Scriptures of the Departed gains +1 durability. 2D: Draw a card." (from "When a friendly Twilight ally is killed, Scriptures of the Departed gains +1 durability. 2D: Draw 2 cards").

    Lorhon: Twilight Encampment
    - Controller activation cost up to 1SE (from 0SE).
    - Non-controller ability changed to "0SE: If an opposing Twilight ally was killed this turn, all friendly allies gain +1 health and this location is exiled." (from "1SE: If an opposing Twilight ally was killed this turn, shuffle this location into its owner's deck.").

    Sosilo: Brothers' Landing
    - Controller ability changed to "1SE: At the end of the turn, draw 2 cards for each ability or location discarded from your hand this turn." (from "At the end of each of your turns, draw 2 cards for each ability or location discarded from your hand that turn").
    - Non-controller ability changed to "0SE: If an opposing ally was killed this turn, each opposing player discards a card from their hand at random." (from "2SE: If there are no opposing Templar allies, your hero heals 2 damage and this location is exiled.").

    Anmor: Garina Road
    - Non-controller ability changed to "At the start of each of your turns, draw a card. All cards cost you 1 less resource to summon." (from "Allies cost you 1 less resource to summon.").

    Irum: Lightning Quarry
    - Turn Number increased to T5 (from T4).
    - Controller ability changed to "When electrical damage is dealt to an ally on your turn, renew 3 resources (max twice per turn)." (from "When electrical damage is dealt to an ally on your turn, renew 3 used resources.").
    - Non-controller ability changed to "2SE: All allies take 2 damage. Exile this location." (from "3SE: All allies take 2 electrical damage. Take control of this location.").

    Gaderi: Braxno Citadel
    - Turn Number reduced to T4 (from T5).

    Arthyle's Pass: Dead Man's Breach
    - Controller ability changed to "Friendly allies with cost 2 or less have haste, ambush and meek the turn they are summoned." from ("Friendly allies with cost 2 or less have haste and meek the turn they are summoned.").
    - Non-controller ability changed to "0SE: When the next opposing ally is killed this turn, it is exiled and its controller takes 1 damage." (from "4SE: All allies are killed and this location is exiled.").

    Ravenscrest: Valley of Secrets
    - Non-controller activation reduced to 2SE (from 3SE).

    Kiruth: Thaddeus' Vault
    - Turn Number increased to T4 (from T3).
    - Non-controller ability changed to "2SE: Target ally in a graveyard containing at least 3 cards is placed in your hand." (from "3SE: Target Undead ally in an opposing graveyard is exiled: Draw a card.").

    Asyn: Mount Kazarr
    - Turn Number reduced to T4 (from T5).
    - Non-controller ability changed to "2SE: Target friendly ally attacks the opposing ally with the highest health if able." (from "2SE: Target friendly ally attacks the opposing ally with the lowest health if able.").

    Rankett: Proving Grounds
    - Turn Number increased to T4 (from T3).


    In addition to these changes, we're adding a new rule with regards summoning Locations:

    If you control the active location, you may not summon another copy of that location.

    So you can still activate a Location's ability and drop another location to activate that one too, but only if you don't control the existing one (to representing taking control of it) or they are different locations (to represent moving elsewhere). This possible rule was mentioned when Locations were first revealed, and playtesting has shown that it's necessary. It also makes sense thematically.

    Twilight nerf, Garina nerf that was expected. Locations in rework in general looks also ok. But others?
    Nerf to Sosilo? Why? Mediocre card turned into useless.
    Exaltation and KoU? I don't know if this was needed.

    hmmmm, twilight luminary+kallista+opportunish is nice combo too, opportunish haste and 9 damage, ONLY for 2 cc -_-

    this looks really good - i think they'll all be positive. Some additional observations:
    - Scriptures is still strong, but this should cool it down a little - at least it's one draw per turn - what's the stating durability? (should be 1)
    - Garina ... man, this is hard to balance. It still allows a fattie drop every turn AND still allows Nathaniel to bring out something nasty ... will the NC bonuses be enough to counter it? Let's wait and see ...
    - Vess - great idea for future-proofing
    - Twilight Luminary - great change; perhaps more is needed. I'm in favour of targeting the Hate (e.g. "0: target other Twilight gains Haste until end of turn")
    - Avatar: yes! this is good. Might still be a problem with Lifebringer, but let's see...
