for me personally, i have yet to host a tournament that didnt cost me SC or what not (other than popups). thats just me though, i dont need an incentive to run an event... i just enjoy doing them.

The SC requirement is important to make the prize large enough for a guild to care they won- and to weed out the weeny want-to-be guilds.

At ETC the beer is always free but Jasmine is mine, sorry bro. Vess is available but she has attachment issues

Also, everyone, let me clarify that Rising Sun are not hosting this tournament. This is all our Jork's doing after a conversation about Guild Wars in SE's Telegram room. I personally do not agree with the timing of this event as most of SE's competitive players are busy participating in the WC Regionals, however, if there's enough interest, we can surely host one after the conclusion of the World Championships.

If the point is, "size doesn't matter" then I agree, but the result should be meaningful to the non guilder players out there. I would like the participants to be guilds that represent a true home for potential players who are looking for one, not a group of 5 or 6 that may disband shortly after.

FWIW I like the buy-in + rake type tournament (but 5% might be better than 10). However one step at a time, I don't think shadow era is ready for that yet; we barely even have buy-in tournaments.

Agreed. One step at a time. The idea is that you get more of what you incentivize and I want more buy in tournaments, but we will leave this part of it for another discussion.
