Ah, true. This is that "consistency of verbiage and syntax" I'm always bitching about.

I've always thought that 'cast' should only be an option when an ability is selected. 'Summon' should be the option available to all other cards.

Which, in turn, is the reason I've always believed 'cc' stood for card cost.

Actually, now that I think about it, the fact that it says CC on the card is kind of absurd. The term "cast" isn't even in the Shadow Era lexicon, is it? Isn't the term for "casting" things technically referred to by the rules as "summoning"?

I mean, I understand if we, the player, informally refer to it as a "casting cost" but it doesn't hold true that THE source of the game should use a term on a card that isn't the term the game uses.
