With a boosted crossbow, by Baduruu, why does it negate Pheonix from coming back to life?

As I understand it, it's @3 damage, ignites Pheonix, kills it w one hit. Why does Pheonix then go to the grave instead of being resurrected to the field?

Heya,

The Phoenix doesn't return to play in this instance because it was killed while ablaze (the crossbow set it ablaze). The Phoenix is only returned to play if it was not ablaze when killed. Basically, Emore Crossbow is an effective counter to the Phoenix's recursion ability.
