Welcome! I don't know if you saw, but the new class decks are a really good deal for new players and the Ythan -human hunter class deck is a great place to start with Victor. Really, just use Victor instead of Ythan. Others have already given you some good advice, and you saw that video of me and Sam, so if you want to play a competitive deck, that's a good place to start.
One other thing I thought is worth mentioning, at the beginning of each month, the rankings reset to 0. What this means for a new player, like yourself who just started near the 1st of the month is you are going to have some extremely tough matchups. The ranking system tends to separate people pretty quickly based on how often they win against other similarly ranked opponents. So the really good players will wind up being in the 250-350 ranking range, while the average player will be in the 150-250 range. As a new player, starting at 0 ranking, you should be paired up with people who are also relatively new...that is, except for the beginning of the month. At that point you will be paired with a wide range of players with varying skill levels because everyone got reset to 0.
So please don't be discouraged if you find your first few days very difficult. After the first week of the month or so, the rankings settle where they should be, and you wind up getting games that match your skill level.

Dear Keifersdad,
When I first started SE I was very excited about having all these fancy cards and it took me a while to realize what I was doing wrong. The decks that try to do too many things at once doesn't function well on the field. That is what meant by consistency. The way you design your deck should be very focused, but highly effective. Till you grasp how to do it by yourself, learning from high quality decks other suggest you (or you find on the forums) is a great way to learn.
You are lucky. All the guys replied to your thread so far are the very best of SE. With their advice and your dedication to practice you can improve your game very quickly.
Welcome to the forums. I am glad you found us here.
Good luck & I am looking forward for a match in the near future.

I really appreciate all the advice. I actually just realized that there was a second page to this thread. bobrossw, you're comment is exactly what I needed to know. I did really well with the new deck at first, and now I'm only winning when the other guy gets booted from the server.
I've added a few cards from preybird's victor article, but I'm still getting totally decimated. I've lost two matches without doing any damage to the other guy. Do you think it's the first of the month thing, or do I just suck?
I just finished yet another crushing loss and have a question. I was facing another Victor. He had a soul seeker, just like I did. He didn't have any attachments or items or anything like that up, and yet he did 4 damage to my 2, even though we're both using the same stuff. What am I missing?
Who was your opponent so we can watch a replay? Was there any armor involved?
