What if... Fireballs' cost was 4. Would we be free from its tyranny? Would it require more skill? Would things like Spelleater Bands be that much better?

My first thought was like "then people would complain about LS and Nova...". My second (actual) thought is that (maybe) would have been allow mage's pool to have a 4th usable burn card (which oc should have been less "straightforwardly" strong than current FB) and that (maybe) would have been shift their mentality from rush towards control a little bit (or not).
All in all, IF Fireball's cost was 4 that would have been ok for me as i love mages but for me control(ish) playstyle is more entertaining with them (though its weaker than rush oc). And IF i had a million dollars...

I think Fireballs should cost 8. Just saying.
Am i weird in that i have no issue with Fireball?
I mean weve all been hit by the Double Fireball, just as much as weve done it to others. But alone it doesnt win games.
Personally I feel Supernova is more painful, but even that isnt too bad IMO.
Maybe its also because almost every deck i enjoy playing tears mages apart too

Nah. Fireball has never really been oppressive. It's a good card, people play it, cool.
Mage decks without Fireballs are similar to Ocean without water...
I don't find fireballs all that strong in this current meta. Maybe it's because I am playing elementalis, but with 3/5 gargoyles, 4/8 harbingers and 4/10 hulks, I can't help but giggle as my opponent agonises over whether to burn his "burn" cards on my allies or be crushed under an unrelentless horde of obscenely-statted allies. There are just so many ways of buffing my allies that mages are easily expending 2-3 burn spells just to take down an ally.
When you play against mages and the last four turns are fireballs being launched towards me and I die from it I tend to question my life a bit.

I share your pain. After I've spent a whopping 45 minutes hiding all game long, then they launch a bunch of fireballs and Supernova....Makes me feel like I've just wasted 45 min. of my life, and I question why I even use a Millstalker deck.
...But then I remember I've had Millstalker since he was a puppy and I could never hate this deck
