How do you make a newbie?

When I first started playing the game like few weeks ago, someone IMed me during a game, asking:

"How long have you been playing?"

    I reply, "Why?"

    "Can tell you are newbie."

That brief convo has stuck with me ever since and just now after playing a game, I think I understand what he meant.

Did he mean the choice of cards newbies usually go for? I notice that as I play more often, the more I abandon certain cards as useless..

lots of things - choice of cards (including a worthless card or neglecting a staple card), playing with a large deck (there are very strong decks that run with over 40 cards, like my current Zhanna deck, but typically good decks are 40 cards), newb level mistakes (one I notice playing Serena, newbs will have a Fleet-Footed Messenger and will not attack me, when I've got Black Garb out...can you tell me why that's a newb mistake?)

Don't be afraid to answer yes there, they may give you helpful advice. Some people are just looking to be mean, but then they'll just insult you without asking. I cringe when I see certain mistakes and usually try to advise my opponents.

Card choices, less than optimal plays, perhaps length of turn (unfamiliarity with card pool can cause this), etc.

Well, It's more then card pool in the factor it's also
    -bluff
    -how you play cards
    -how much you sac
    -and when you sac

As well I've been around the block a bit and my mentor mightyoak taught me a lot and once told me this game has more depth then you really know.and after many weeks I finally understood what it meant, yes it seems simple but when you look down deep enough it will shock you and that's why I'm excited for future sets this game has potential and I truly Belive it will put hearthstone to shambles one day in the future.
My advice is be aware how much you sac, learn probability if you haven't, and learn to bluff. Once you nail that. Deck building will be your limit which is in fact equal to the sky, I Belive in you will become a good player

Also if you wish to spar let me know I love playing and and helping and showing innovation as well to inspire young players to see the potential in what you can do

If you use Campfire Stories, then that's a definite way to show that you're a newbie. Or that you are the AI, lol.

Lol, I was thinking of Extra Sharp. When he played it on an ally that already had two or three enchantments on it, I was thinking, "Gosh, I wouldn't do that." Then I started to get a glimmer of what a newbie looked like.

Then I played Hymn on the ally and I wondered how he/she felt on the other side of the iPad... ouch.

since I've been playing around with Fat Zhanna, sometimes people think I'm a noob (it's got 54 cards). Last week a guy raged about losing to a "top-decking noob" it made my day and I proceeded to ask him to explain the concepts of "top-decking" and when he complained about not drawing IGG, I asked him to explain what "IGG" is.

One day you too will be able to pretend to be a noob!

Well by not over saccing, and making other plays that, will make the other player feel safe about his next move like leading him/her on
