Without looking at your game, there are two ways to control bounce effects:

1) Steadfast, which prevents allies from being remove from the board without dying

2) Opponent has a full hand. Hand limit is always enforced so if your opponent has 7 cards, you can't send anything to his hand.

Your turn right after you played Golden Katar, right? As stated above, it's because your opponent had a full hand.
