    Hi!

I believe the earliest artwork for the game existed before the game itself, and was just licensed by Kyle, as opposed to commissioned. Considering Shadow Era was brand new then, the need for eye-catching artwork must have been high to even get the app noticed. Maybe Kyle can comment on why he went for those pieces!

To my knowledge, no art has ever been commissioned where sexiness is even mentioned. Artists add that themselves. Layarian Seductress was originally Layarian Minstrel (who played a song for the wealthy opponent to distract his ally), but we ended up scrapping a card that LS's art was destined for ("Quiet Contemplation") and we didn't have the Minstrel art yet so the name change happened and LS was born!

BTW, why all the hate for Sindarok Apprentice? The character depicted looks like a flat-chested woman to me, which is why I was surprised it was originally put on Oliver Fagin. Do people think she is not a she due to lack of cleavage?

Sindarok looks more like an angsty male teen with silly hair (+silly hat) with a left arm much more muscular than the right.

+1 please change sindarok. I like all of the other art in the set, but I really don't think that it looks like a priest card. Maybe Mage.

Unattractive women are visually unappealing to men. Most players are men.

Not everyone on the internet has an inferiority complex that compels them to act like total fools when it comes to women. Gamergate is just stupid.

As for scaling back art, I would like them to stay away from another Elanor.

It's funny 'cause Aramia's art had been changed from what we have now to yet another big-breasted, corset-tormented blow-up doll. Iirc it was the *guys* who complained about that enough for Wulven to change it back.

Not really what this is about. Both, say, Aramia and Jasmine are attractive females, the former just doesn't dress or pose like a porn star.

My cards ideas: for mages, for others

Songs about Wulven by: TV on the Radio, Babel, Warren Zevon

However much one kind of longs to see the actors in war outdo each other in cunning activity, finesse, and stratagem, still one has to admit that these qualities show themselves but little in history and have rarely been able to emerge from amongst the mass of relations and circumstances.
The reason for this is obvious enough: Strategy knows no other activity than the arrangement of combats with the measures which relate to it. It doesn't know, like ordinary life, actions that consist of mere words, i.e. expressions, declarations, etc. But these, which are inexpensive, are what the crafty one prefers to deceive with.
This sober truth is always felt through and through by the actor in war and therefore he ceases to fancy a game of shrewd agility. Necessity presses so hard into immediate action that there is no room left for it. In a word, the pieces on the strategical chessboard lack the mobility that is the element of stratagem and cunning. - CvC, On War

Protip: Always search Amber Rain Shadow Era with safe search strict when googling the hero.

art in the later expansions have been scaling back in sexiness, mainly due to communtiy feedback. iirc, Aramia used to be scantily clothed before the community commented that her art needs to be changed.

personally, i find nothing wrong with any of the art. for example, Jasmine is one of my favorite cards. beautiful, well drawn, and sexy. a lot of the cards i like in SE are women cards. Eleanor for example is exquisitely drawn. idc what anyone says about it, but she is definitely one of my favorite card art.

if there would be a card art that would be disturbing for me, it would be snowland spotter. her nakedness has no place in the art and in that sense, the artist merely made her scantily clad for the sake of nakedness. i mean, the background is snow and no one in their right mind would go out of that weather wearing clothes like that. all other art though, no matter how sexy, were tastefully drawn.

Sindarok Apprentice reminds me of the scarecrow in wizard of oz. i hate that card art. it sticks out like a sore thumb in SE. its art is totally out of place.

It is one of my greatest hopes that in the future, mankind achieves enlightenment so high we would not need rules, laws, or government to keep the peace and govern ourselves. By our own motivation and volition, we would do what is right and just because it is right and just. This is the central tenet of anarchy. Not chaos and lawlessness, but free will and self-actualization.

Let's not forget this is a "fantasy" card game. Men like looking at women and Guys like to fantasise about females looking like this. I do, it doesn't mean I dont respect women or see them only as sex objects and I do not consider it sexist. Is nude art sexist ? Would Xena have had the same appeal had she been dressed differently. Sexuality is a very powerful force. A woman who can seduce a man has more power over him than some guy who can only resort to violence ( and it's not illegal ) Sexuality adds an aura of power to women that is greater in my opinion than bulging biceps in men. I understand some women don't wish to be betrayed this way but in the world of entertainment i feel this is the way things are. And I would rather live in a society that acknowleges the freedom of sexuality than one that hides it under a veil. If you are offended there are other card games. If you have a degree in sociology You surely understand the paradigm of the fantasy genre.
