Idk if someone said this already but you have to see this as what it is: Business.

Probably more than 75% (raw numbers) of SE's players are men. From those 75%, probably more than 50% of them prefer Bloodlust or Cobraskin as it is right now and i even saw some threads about some new cards with too much clothes. As Wulven or design team, you have to reach the majority to get a good profit so... what can you do?

Even when you don't like something (i bet that in the DT there is someone that prefers more clothes in the cards), you have to go with the flow and whatever will make you earn more money satisfying the bigger number of players. You can't make everybody happy.

In my opinion, i think that as long as is not too rude (completely naked woman or dude), is all cool.

Yup I'm with you there. That's also why that show 'Girls' has gotten such a strong reaction. It depicts nude women and sex that isn't necessarily sexy to others. I love that, since it's finally some realism and humor involved in sex, rather than pseudo-porn.

i dont really see the problem here. I may be 16, but when im playing i am definitely not focussing on the bodies of females on the cards. There are cards with females on it where everything is fine too, like war banner or reserve weapon.
And if want to see some good cleavage, there are much better sites to visit >; )

In other words, I am just saying by presenting such images to a young boy, the idea of the idealized sexy woman is planted in his mind.

But of course, I agree with the other poster - sexy card art is moot compared to porn you can find on Internet those days for sure. I know many teenage boys are definitely exposed to a lot more explicit porn online today. Ah, the innocence of the old days, huh?
I have small boobs personally and staring at the cards makes me want to go get implants. LOL

Yes "idealised sexy woman " and when he matures hopefully he will understand such women exist mostly in his fantasies ... And there is nothing wrong with fantasies. Real women will be much more complex and challenging.

I think the more troubling thing for young people in these sorts of environments (video games / comic books / action movies / some porn) is they are bombarded with the constant and casual degradation and sexual objectification of women. I don't think it does any favors for anyone in our society. Women are harmed by this indirectly by having to suffer constant harassment and having to overcome those sorts of issues in the work-place. Men are harmed by this because some never learn how to see and treat women the way they would want to be seen and treated. At best those men wind up in unhappy relationships, at worst they wind up frustrated and alone.

These are big issues, and it seems silly to worry so much about little things like a specific game in the face of such larger problems. The thing to remember is those big problems are just amalgamations of all these little problems. So if we want to change our society to encourage equality and mutual respect of others then we have to fight these little battles when they come up.

You know it works both ways.

Have a look around your supermarket next time you're out. Look at the "ideal man". If you think society place unrealistic expectations on women you should have a look the other way. Look at the men and how they are depicted in advertising, tall, rugged, powerful jaw, ripped physique. You know less than 6% of all men 18-30 have a six pack? Do you know in order to have visible abdonimal muscles you need to have a body fat percentage that is unhealthy (<8-10%)? And that's just in advertising and modelling. Lets bring it back to the fantasy world (key word being fantasy).

In the fantasy world men are just as impossibly designed as women, in fact I think it's even more unfair. No man can maintain that sort of physique for any length of time, not even with the help of artificial enhancements in growth hormones and anabolic steroids. Even top bodybuilders have "standard weight" and "competition weight". Competition weight is about 3-5% body fat and is about 10kg less than standard weight. Look up a picture of someone like Jay Cutler (Former Mr Olympia) when he's on the off season, he just looks like a big fat guy because his body fat rises to about 15-20%. A woman can remain slender indefinitely with exercise and healthy living, a guy can be slender as well but he CANNOT maintain a ripped superhero physique for any longer than a couple months tops. Let's use another real world example of Hugh Jackman. When he prepares to do Wolverine he does a 6 week weight and diet "cram session". He sheds a ridiculous amount of body fat and puts on whatever muscle he can so he has defined musculature, but as soon as filming and promotion is over he returns to a more normal and healthy size. And while we're on the topic of superheroes, there is a reason that none of them look like their comic book counterparts, because IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO DO. Even when I was 14 reading X-Men I knew that no one out there had a body like Cyclops, or Jean Grey, or Wolverine. Magneto is over 70 and look at his body in the comics! Anyone who thinks any of this is remotely achievable needs their head examined.

Women are expected to have D cups, tight abs, thin waist and long legs. Men are expected to have broad shoulders, rugged jaw, ripped chest and abs, and a 12 inch wang. And both sides of the argument know that the ideals of the other are not reasonable.

Ultimately beyond all of this we are sexual beings, we always have been, we always will be. It's how we continue the species. You cannot go a single day in this world without seeing some gorgeous woman in lingerie or a ripped up guy in his underwear depicted somewhere. It's how it is.

I agree that unrealistic body models are a problem, but that's not my main concern. It's really the message that women are objects rather than people. It's the sort of culture that makes random men on the street feel entitled to ogle and harass women just because they find them attractive. A friend of mine - an attractive woman who works in a male dominated technical field said she recently overheard her boss talking about who she should have sex with - based on who among the men there needs to get laid (she's married by the way). As I mentioned before, my wife gets harassed and propositioned nearly every day walking on the city streets. To me that sort of acceptance comes from millions of small things that we're all exposed to every day. I know that many people -myself included, can be exposed to that stuff and still come out of it relatively decent human beings. At the same time, I don't believe that we can just say that since it doesn't seem to affect me, it's automatically benign for everyone. I understand the concerns with political correctness, and I agree that some people can take those things to ridiculous extremes. We have to read behind the words and images and see the intent and effect. In the case of objectified women on cards my sense is the intent is relatively benign and the effect is minimal - but still worth considering a problem to be remedied on an ongoing basis, as new cards are released (and I think that's generally happening).

How do you come to that conclusion based on this card art? It is generally bar a very few select examples not that bad. Were we having a discussion around hard core porn i may be inclined to agree a little more with you, but while the attire of some of the women is sparse the art isnt full of come hither looks and seductive poses. I mean i see more arousing stuff in store catalogues.

I also have no idea where you live but your examples are far from representative of the male population. Were the problem of harassment as widespread as you are claiming i would see it everywhere.

we live in NYC, but really it happens all over, it's not something that decent men necessarily notice. I don't personally see it very often, it happens to my wife when I'm not with her - although one time a guy tried to ask her out while we were holding hands. Most women don't complain about it to most people, so you really need to ask about it. Talk to some women you know and ask them when the last time someone asked them out was, and when they last got a strange look or question from a man. My wife once got asked for her number by a guy that was waiting in front of a restroom at a movie theater for his wife, another time a guy tried to ask her out from his car while she was in her car! To many women, this sort of experience is routine. In NYC the population is just so much more, so the odds of it happening just go way up.
