    WC2014 Grand Finals

    Hey all!

Over the past three weekends, we've ran 8 organised play events to find us our 16 WC2014 Grand Finalists, who will be playing on 6th December at 8pm GMT to determine our World Champion 2014!

(If you're interested in the decks they used, click here for all 32 decks from the Top 8 of each Swiss Day 1 and click here for 32 decks from Day 2.)

    WC2014 Grand Finalists:

    ROK nadoa (Asia/Australasia 1st)
    RS Justicar (Asia/Australasia 2nd)
    KA Toy008 (Asia/Australasia 3rd)
    KA Uncle Liu (Asia/Australasia 4th)

    BP Vince1992 (Americas 1st)
    BP lorgi (Americas 2nd)
    BP Mip1 (Americas 3rd)
    BP hachi (Americas 4th)

    Bobross (Europe 1st)
    KA Final Rain (Europe 2nd)
    Xander Spitfire (Europe 3rd)
    BP emigor (Europe 4th)

    BP maxi1230 (Wildcard 1st)
    A1 Sisyphos (Wildcard 2nd)
    BP Kelala (Wildcard 3rd)
    BP Yotenka (Wildcard 4th)

Grand Final Pairings and Bracket Guidance:

The 16-player single-elimination bracket will be created as follows:

    - round 1 will have 1st seeds playing 4th seeds and 2nd seeds playing 3rd seeds
    - no players from the same qualifier can meet until semi-finals
    - no 1st seeds can meet until semi-finals

So if you are a 1st seed, then you know you will be playing a 4th seed from one of the other three qualifiers; if you are a 2nd seed, you know you will be playing a 3rd seed from one of the other three qualifiers; and so on.

The exact pairings will not be revealed until round 1 starts! And, of course, if there are no-shows then Reserves will step in and all the seeds will shuffle up.

    WC2014 Grand Final Reserves:

    TJ FlyingFerrari (Asia)
    Ao1 pjoe0211 (Americas)
    Mr 8 (Europe)
    MistuhRager (Wildcard)

If someone from Asia qualifier no-shows then Asia reserve will be used, and so on.

    Good luck to all competitors!

8pm GMT is very unfriendly to these Asian players who are in GMT+8...

I agree 8 pm GMT is pretty punishing for Asia. I mean that's, give or take, monday morning 4am! 4 rounds of bo5s can take like 10 hours (4 rounds x 5 games x 30 minutes). Then if nadoa, justi, toy or liu make it to the semis or finals, but have to go to work, wouldn't that suck?

Is it possible to switch to ~2pm GMT? That's a long sunday night in Asia and an early sunday morning in the states.
A1's man without qualities - Evolution in theory.

My cards ideas: for mages, for others

Songs about Wulven by: TV on the Radio, Babel, Warren Zevon

However much one kind of longs to see the actors in war outdo each other in cunning activity, finesse, and stratagem, still one has to admit that these qualities show themselves but little in history and have rarely been able to emerge from amongst the mass of relations and circumstances.
The reason for this is obvious enough: Strategy knows no other activity than the arrangement of combats with the measures which relate to it. It doesn't know, like ordinary life, actions that consist of mere words, i.e. expressions, declarations, etc. But these, which are inexpensive, are what the crafty one prefers to deceive with.
This sober truth is always felt through and through by the actor in war and therefore he ceases to fancy a game of shrewd agility. Necessity presses so hard into immediate action that there is no room left for it. In a word, the pieces on the strategical chessboard lack the mobility that is the element of stratagem and cunning. - CvC, On War
