Since the dawn of mankind, we have asked ourselves: who is the best Shadow Era player?
First, Balorites had the skill ladder. To be at the top would mean you'd battle only highly rated foes and prevailed more often than not. A sure sign of skill, right? Well, yes, but it was soon discovered that while getting the top places required a lot of work, a good early season push followed by a camping session could guarantee a top 20 spot come season's end. Thus began the Camper Era.
Then, Balorites were given the score ladder. To be at the top would mean that you'd fought numerous battles, but it was soon discovered that playing a lot with an above average skill rating could get you a very good spot come season's end. Thus began the Spamming Era.
Through all these turmoils, some Balorites were never satisfied, arguing that one (or none) of these ladders was a better indication of skill and accomplishment.
Then, Balorites were given both ladders simultaneously. Surely being rated in the top 100 of both ladders would indicate a level of success and consistency worthy of accolades! Hence, the Combined Ladder:
I see two ways to rank players on the combined ladder:
1) Add both ranks - the player with the lowest total gets ranked first.
2) Multiply a player's score with his rating - the player with the highest total gets ranked first.
I picked option 2 because, even though rating is already factored in the score and the multiplication favors those up the scoring ladder (the spread between 1st and 100th in score can be up to 300% while the rating ladder spread is much smaller around 15%), it gives a value that is easier to compare between seasons. It's also easier for a player to compare himself with the top performers since he knows his score and rating but not his ranks.
Without further ado, your Combined Ladder:
Season 20 - AP TAZWIZ, burnout1985, BP chamthabo
Season 21 - Jojiwakabayashi, hirototree, BP chamthabo
Season 22 - magotto, KA Southdy, necobus
