Using Praxix's ability to discard without costing SE (confirmed)

A player reported this to me:
When using Praxix's ability, the discarding phase occurs first, then you need to choose a target for the damage. If you cancel the targeting phase at this time, the shadow energy will not be used.
    He plays on Android v2.88.

Also, if you somehow double click the hero, the ability will cancel.

It seems the bug is about the way to cancel.
