Midnight sentinel & backstab

If I use backstab on an ally to give it ambush and then cast midnight sentinel does the ally get +1/+2 because it already has ambush?

Likewise if I use sentinel on a nightshade that has had ambush removed temporarily by morbid acolyte does it get ambush again or +1/+2?

The first one is definitely +1/+2, just be wary, because when the ambush wears off it's gone.

The second one, it would give +0/+2, since acolyte's ability would still be in effect, cancelling the ambush that it would give nightshade. If you can kill acolyte first, however, then his ability ends, so it would still be possible to get the +1/+2

Anything with 'ambush' when sentinel is summoned will gain the buff. If it's temporary ambush, it will then lose the ambush as usual, but still keep the buff. I know this because I'm using this strat in my Ythan's 'Ambushers' deck.
