The Basic Idea
The whole idea of this deck is to control early and then take over in the later game. You have a plethora of dedicated control options in Poison Arrow, Snare Trap, Hunter’s Gambit and Layarian Seductress. The Bobcat and Viska add to the control package later on and are very effective in the end game (especially with so many Hunter abilities to trigger the kitty).
The Graveyard
This is something you need to be acutely aware of when you play, even more so than usual for Victor. As you have Poison Arrow, Hunter’s Gambit and Bobcat which can be recycled with your ability you need to follow some strict orders when playing so that you return the card you need. As a general rule you want to be cycling Gambit’s early in order to get your game set up and then Bobcats and Poison Arrows later to help seal the deal. I have had games where I have dropped 6-7 Bobcats due to Victor’s ability, and it can be a great surprise ally out of nowhere.
Tech
This deck is more straightforward than my previous DP Victor (Techhead), but that’s because it can afford to be. His additional draw and haste options mean that he can fight more effectively and most importantly, earlier. You still have some good options to help with your weaker matchups, most notably Spelleater Bands which puts the kaibosh on Mages and Zaladar, slowing them down and forcing them into an ally based strategy, which really helps you out.
Conclusion
Dear old Victor got a massive buff in Shattered Fates, and it’s great to see. This deck can bring the fight to any hero and you have the tools to help you out with the more difficult opponents. Bear in mind that he’s still not the quickest to get set up, so you will be playing the control game early on. Just remember that Victor is up there with the best control heroes now so you will turn the tide.
