    What's your streaming/youtube set-up?

    Hey, folks!

If you stream on twitch (or elsewhere?) or make YouTube videos for Shadow Era, what's your set-up?

    Are you Windows/Mac/other?

What programs do you use to record/edit/publish?

What equipment do you use, if any?

(I've not made a poll because I'm hoping this is could be a useful reference thread.)

    Thanks!

For recording on youtube, I tend to use fraps.
For streaming on twitch, I've used both Xsplit and OBS.

For screen-caps on Mac - Quicktime is super easy to make captures, for any film editing I do I use Blender but iMovie is more approachable for some

Also for video format conversion - Handbrake
    For artwork - Gimp

    I use the same.

What do you use for compressing original recordings? And what is the size of average length (by average I mean average for one SE game) video after compression?

I've just used the FLV player to re-encode fraps recordings, but that's because I don't do the fancy things. I think file size should be beneath 100 MB.

I use several programs when recording and making YouTube videos. When it comes to streaming I use Xsplit to stream but other programs to assist.

    Recording Game Footage

Fraps is the best at recording gaming footage. It can produce great quality. However it is not free and will cost you a on time charge. If you want to go the free route there is CamStudio.

    Editing Images

If you want an image in your video/stream but want it resized or added text Gimp is the best program to use and its FREE. Learning how to work Gimp might be a little confusing but I learned through a YouTube tutorial so I'm sure others can too. I've used this program for others things too including the gif image I use on my forums avatar.

    Movie Editing Software

There are many programs out there but my personal favorite that I use is MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2014. It is amazing! and I feel is the best out there that even major movie production companies use. This software is not free and it might be confusing to learn. However I am completely self taught in this program so I'm sure others could do the same. There might be YouTube tutorials out there to help too.

If you want to go the free route you can use windows movie maker which usually is already installed for most PCs.

Basically what I have & use for youtube stuff:

    Software:
    - FRAPs (Screen Capture)
    - DxTory (Screen Capture)
    - OBS (Streaming & Screen Capture)
    - Soundforge (Mic Capture & Audio Editing)
    - Audacity (Audio Editing)
    - Corel Paintshop Pro (Primary graphics software)
    - Corel Painter / Adobe Photoshop / Adobe Illustrator / Graphics Gale / Blender (rarely used graphics programs)
    - Sony Movie Studio Platinum (Editing Software, it's Vegas's much cheaper little brother)
    - Unity (both the player & the development kit)

    Gear:
    - AT2020 Microphone (Used to use a Blue Snowball, still do sometimes, depending on which I have set up)
    - Koss Noise Isolating Headphones w/ on-cord volume control -or- my noise isolating ear buds
    - Standard Boom Stand
    - Wacom Intuos 3 Tablet
    - A cheap-ass laptop for graphic work & non-recording 'work' (notes, research, scheduling, test runs, etc.)
    - Recording System:
    --- AMD FX-8120 3.1ghz (octo-core)
    --- 8Gig RAM
    --- nVidia GeForce GT 640 (4gig)
    --- 128 GB SSD (Internal)
    --- 1 TB HDD (Internal)
--- Multiple external USB3.0 drives (varying numbers of 500GB/1TB/2TB) & external HDD dock (it's an old USB2.0 one, used for data recovery on old systems & sometimes backup)

For the most part, interest in my recording methods has been there, but honestly without a camera, I honestly wouldn't be able to really give a full picture of what my process is... and I'm honestly saving up for a good camera for other projects, not gonna waste money on a cheap option that will just be redundant later on.

Definitely need to upgrade some of the things very soon as well, which is making me scratch my head about how to budget for it.
