If the metagame dictates what you play, doesn't that mean that you are actually behind the top tier? They figure out how to beat the field and the rest of the people follow while the top tier players are already figuring out the next thing that beats the field they designed.
If that isn't possible and the metagame stops rotating, doesn't that mean that there aren't enough cards to keep that rotation going, and that there has to be more competitively playable cards available?
That's why I think it's quite important to focus on top tier play, especially in a game that doesn't get new cards often enough.
As a rogue player, I really have no sympathy for this argument. While it's possible to make a deck that has a strong early game, many rogue decks don't start getting good until T5 or 6. The early game is just about stalling. I understand that the cost of having strong late game options sometimes is having mediocre / weak early game options.
But that's not even really true for ravagers. With the new changes, Ravagers will have so many control / buff options and shadow heroes have so many abilities that can help win back the board even if they lose it. On top of that, it is easy to have a 1/3 or 1/5 ally out on t2 and buff that ally to 3/3 or 3/5 on t3 (with Thriss Almanac). By t4, you can then attack with that ally, destroy thriss almanac with Ravager zealot, finishing off opponent allies (since you can do at least 5 damage to one ally, and 2 to another), and having a hasted 3/3 in play. That's 2 allies on board and enough damage to kill two opposing allies with 5 health (without even using your hero's ability). What more do you need?
There are so many obvious synergies there, so why not relax, wait until the new release, and just try the new cards out before complaining?
If you don't like combos or synergy, but would rather simple brute force and solid stats, then don't play a tribe - just go with the standard strong shadow ally lineup. Nobody's stopping you.
That discussion is totally wrong, you can't boost your T2 ally by T3 Thriss Almanac because it will be destroyed at end of turn (1cc sustain cost and it costs 3cc)
So now back to this ugly stupid 1/3 ally once again by the end of your turn, mfrom next opponent turn you are stuck by that non sense1/3 ally.. And now you have to boost him again and again to make this worthless creature worth something
So your T2 and T3 were very bad plays

fair enough - ok so you can boost it for a turn if you need to kill a 2/5 on t3. Or you can use crown of ages on t3, to get a 3/5 then you can destroy it t4. for the two damage after giving a buff. Still a powerful set of combos available.
OK then t4 ls or zal and you have 0 allies and no items...that was a lot of work to be back at square one...at best zealot is gone and you have a worthless spitfire on board...considering they are seeming to lean towards cleric growth that doesn't help with that at all...Idk why you are so against a decent turn 2 drop but kindly step down from your horse

If just one active Rogue makes it to the 300s and has a strong love of Anarchic Looting everyone is going to take notice and start to fear it. That's all it takes to shift the meta. People will start to say, I'll bring one less of this item and one less of that item and replace it with something else that's more likely to give me an advantage. Hoping to make that Rogue's AL's seem useless. But I suspect that Rogues will bring them even if they have weapons and items themselves. Because destroying their own 1 durability remaining weapon may be worth it if it will take out 2 of their opponent's key items in the process.
When you put it this way you are obviously right. But my point was that it is better atm to put in a non-Ravager T2 like Karash and deal with it, than trying to add yet another T2 to the Ravager's rooster. Just run Spitfire for BF removal late game and use Karash for T2.
Also true ofc. I just get the impression the lengthy Beta process is driving people to "overbalance" SF. The Set still hasn't been released but I've already seen three archetypes come and go, which will never make it into release. With most of them I think the nerfs where warranted, but there a quite a few cases which I find very strange. I was hoping after 2.86 people would be less zealous with the balance demands, but 2.86 isn't even live yet and there are already the next candidates on the chopping block. If you don't focus on the competitive level you effect the meta less. One of the big reasons for coming up with new cards is to keep the game from getting stale. Imagine if nothing from sf made any real changes from the DP meta. It would feel like nothing new was released for anyone who played competitively and then the game loses players. Not every deck needs to be top tier to be fun and win but balance needs to keep top tier in mind. In other words you can't make everything the best but the goal should be to get as close to that as possible.
Maybe I am overreacting and it will all be for the best, but atm it feels too me that everybody just heads to the forum and starts a balancing thread for everything that bothers him. I don't think the likes of Aldon, Aeon, Gary and so on would have survived the current situation.
Again sorry if I am overreacting, just my 2cc
makes sense I just think there isn't much room for karash space wise and would be just as happy if they didn't get their t2 till next release just as long as it was taken note of. I hear you on the over reaction we have and nerf cries to most things this set (least we had a improve ravager dialogue instead of nerf ).
@ bob stop telling me to relax at this point in a real life conversation it would have gone from us calmly discussing to me smacking you with something heavy for being an ass. I am allowed to voice my opinion whether you agree with it or not. It comes down to you think they are ok, but I think they need a solid t2 drop. When I call for blood then you can tell me to relax.
