Gen Con Regional Champ Deck 2014

    Hello everyone,

I attended Gen Con this year and I would like to share my first place deck list from Regional Champs with all of you. It was my first physical tournament and I had a blast playing and meeting all the players that attended. I hope you all can make it out next year and anyone who could not make it, I strongly encourage you to do so.

    Hero

    1 Lance Shadowstalker

    Allies(23)

    4 Nightshade
    2 Champion of Irum
    4 Jasmine Rosecult
    4 Night Owl
    3 Aldon the Brave
    4 Raven Wildheart
    2 Aeon Stormcaller

    Abilities(7)

    1 Treasured Heirloom
    2 A Legend Rises
    4 Stop, Thief!

    Items(9)

    4 Ill-Gotten Gains
    4 Anklebreaker
    1 Spelleater Bands

Nightshade - excellent ally against other combat based strategies

Champion of Irum - a powerful 2 cost ally to fill the curve. can be synergistic with raven wildheart and anklebreaker

Jasmine Rosecult - efficient ally that is very good with lance shadowstalkers ability

Night Owl - Useful for gaining tempo and as a threat that can be difficult to kill.

Aldon the Brave - one of the best aggro-breakers there is.

Raven Wildheart - powerful ally with lance shadowstalkers ability. Good at stopping Shadow Knight loops and maintaining board control.

Aeon Stormcaller - offers protection for all your allies. one of the best allies against mages

Treasured Heirloom - acts as the fourth Aldon the Brave, but on a smaller scale. and who doesn't like drawing cards in the process?

A Legend Rises - shuts out crippling blow and captured prey. Makes allies more difficult to kill, especially for mage heroes

Stop, Thief! - deals with any opposing item that poses as a threat

Ill-Gotten Gains - the main draw engine in the deck. Very important to close out mid and long games

Anklebreaker - the main card for dealing with all of your opposing allies. Acts as the decks removal

Spelleater Bands - Best card against any mage. Forces them to use their abilities on your allies instead of racing your life total.

Congrats! Nice build. How is the physical game? I've always imagined it would be quite complicated, but I've never had the opportunity to play (nowhere in my area).

The resource curve for that deck is WAY too high. I'd consider cutting back to only half the number of Anklebreakers you included.

    Thanks everyone!

Heres a link to the video of the final match to give you an idea of physical play. I use a life counter with two spinners numbered 1-40 to keep track of both life totals. They also have an app for that as well.
