General Rules:
The Twain 3: SF edition is a 2 part tournament. The first part is a 5 round Swiss style tournament in which teams will compete to narrow the field down to the top 4 teams. The second part is where the top 4 teams compete for the title in a Best of 3 (bo3) team style championship.
Part 1: The Swiss
- There will be one round every week for five weeks starting on Wednesday and ending on Wednesday at 00:01 gmt0 Exceptions made only in special situations.(Inactive players unable to meet deadlines will take an auto-loss
- The Swiss section will not be bo3. Each player on a team will play 3 games for a total of 6 games per round of Swiss.
- Hero lock is enforced per round. There is no deck lock ever.
Example: Raph and Rayzie as Human Hunters in round one decide that Raph is using Gwen and Ray is using Vic. Raph will use Gwen for 3 games vs his opponent and can switch cards between games if he so chooses (please be reasonable with how long you spend switching cards between games). Ray will use Vic for his 3 games vs his opponent. In round 2 Raph and Ray can choose to use the same heroes vs their new opponents or they can switch and Raph uses Vic and Ray uses Gwen.
- If you win a game you get a point for a possible high score of 6 points in a round and a possible low score of 0 in a round.
- You can determine between yourselves who is going to play who on the team you are assigned to compete against.
- Going first in game one is determined randomly. In the second game, the player who went second in game one will go first. In the third game, going first is determined randomly.
- You and your opponent do not have to play at the same time as your partner and his opponent as long as you both play during the time period for the round.
Example: Raph and Ray are playing vs Sam and Gondorian. Raph can legally play vs either Sam or Gondorian as long as Ray faces the other. It is wise to choose matchups based on schedule and availability.
Part 2: The Championship Best of 3
- This will be a bracketed matchup between the top 4 Swiss teams.
- It will be a bo3 style match. Bo3 is slightly modified for team play.
- A player from one pair will duel a player from another pair. After that, remaining player will duel the other pair's remaining player. This doesn't have to be at the same time as long as all of the matches get finished within the round's deadline.
- Going first in game one is determined randomly. In the second game, the player who went second in game one will go first. In the third game, the player who went first in game one will go first again..
- During the first match, the pair's first duelist has the option to choose which hero he will use, provided its within their chosen class/faction. This is a best of 3 match.
- During the 2nd Match, it is mandatory that the remaining hero of the class/faction chosen will be used by the 2nd duelist. This is also a best of 3.
- Each pair will total their number of wins after the 2nd Match, the pair with most number of wins will advance.
- In case of a tie, there will be a 3rd match. During a 3rd Match, a pair will choose their representative, and the hero of their choice.
Example of a no tie situation:
Ray (vic) vs Sam (moon) - Ray wins 2-1
Raph (Gwen) vs Gondorian (DC) - Gondorian wins 2-0
Winner of the match is Sam and Gondorian with 3 wins vs 2 wins.
Example of a tie situation:
Ray (vic) vs Sam (moon) – Sam wins 2-0
Raph (Gwen) vs Gondorian (DC) – Raph wins 2-0
Match is a 2-2 tie so each team puts up a player and a hero of that players choice
Raph (vic) vs Sam (moon) – Sam wins 2-1
Sam and Gondorian win the matchup and advance.
- Any exploited bugs will result in a automatic disqualification, so use bugged cards at your own risk.
- You are allowed to change cards at any point of the game.
- Players may not change hero during their Swiss or Best of 3 series with another player.
- The tournament Organizer reserves the right to decide on any rules that are not published or needs clarification
- Play NICE, and we'll all get along
