Exclamation Der'kan, the Bone King is not returned to hand when killed with Sacrificial Lamb

When Der'kan, the Bone King is killed using Sacrificial Lamb (while the only ally you control in play) he is not returned to the hand. He is incorrectly sent to the graveyard.

    See match:
    ShrapnelFox vs KA Felix

    Card Text:

    Der'kan, the Bone King
When Der'kan is summoned while there are at least 3 Undead allies in your graveyard, target hero or ally takes 2 ice damage. When Der'kan is killed while he is the only ally you control, he is returned to your hand.

    Sacrificial Lamb
Target friendly ally that can be damaged is killed. Draw cards equal to that ally's cost, to a maximum of 3.

Did you, by any chance, draw to 7 with the Sac Lamb?

Can't check the game because it takes like two years to load it up

Airact is right. You had four cards in hand and used Sac Lamb on Der'kan.

    I see.

So when Der'kan, the Bone King is killed, the player draws 3 cards before Der'kan, the Bone King is returned to the hand.

Could a developer please explain the official resolution order of each step:

im pretty sure the spell happens first which makes you draw the cards, and just does lethal damage, and then after damage is resolved the ally dies and his on death effect occurs

you can post in card rulings to get mojumbo to give you the same answer if you want.

    Thanks

Derkan effect should occur in between the 2 phases of the spell..

I mean the spell should kill Derkan
Then Derkan should immediatly return to your hand
Then other part of spell resolves..

It's very weird how things goes sometime aganist logic

shadow era is going for consistency, in what way would the wording lead you to believe it would work like that?

So when I say anything kill Derkan, it must return him to his hand, as returing him to his hand, is considered a part of killing Derkan.
It is not 2 events after each other..

    To make it easier

The card rules considered your hand as your new graveyard and forgets there is something called graveyard. So when Derkan is killed it must go to the new graveyard, which is your hand.
So going to graveyard ( which is now your hand) is the end process oof one event which is killing..killing must start by killing and end by going to graveyard ( your hand)

So when SL killes derkan, it dies and goes to the new graveyard, then the killing process ends, then after it finishes ( he is killed and in the new graveyard), it can trigger the draw mechanism
